I really loved this book! I found myself identifying with the main character. Some intrigue, some romance, some decisions to be made. Several very charismatic characters. This compelling story pushes you to discover what each character is going to do next. The stories are expertly intertwined. This storyline takes you behind closed doors into the world of the rich and philanthropic in the fascinating setting of what goes on in one of the largest performing arts centers in the country.
This was a really fun read!! I read it on vacation, and it felt like I was living this fun alternate lifestyle. There was the perfect amount of banter and drama. I would love to recommend this to others. Does a great job at keep me wanting to flip to the next page.
A drama filled fun book about a woman who goes through a career change and all the life changes that come with it. A cute read.
I was not a fan of this one. The storyline was pretty cliche and not particularly interesting. The writing itself was also lacking. Overall, this title was disappointing.
This book is pure escapism at its finest! There is office intrigue, glitzy events, posh settings and struggles of the heart. This book could be read on vacation, while soaking in the tub or crammed in a room waiting in a jury pool. It will sweep you up and take you away!
Royal Coconut Beach Lunch Club is simply not well written. Such a disappointment.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.
A gentle reminder of valuing what is important and meaningful in a marriage… reconciliation and rediscovering the meaning of a relationship worth fighting for long term.
It was a good read and fast-paced. The addition of greed, infidelity, and ego was a great way to add to the suspense when the mystery unfolded later in the story.
I ready 20% of the way into the book and still hadn't hit much that piqued my interest. I expected far more mystery and secrecy this far in. I don't think I'll finish this, as it moves extremely slowly and is very dry.
I've never seen the rarefied, well-to-do world in Diane Bergner's ROYAL COCONUT BEACH LUNCH CLUB, but I feel like I've had a seat at the table. The twists and turns and strange turnabouts are familiar to anyone in fundraising and to chasing the big donors -- or paid attention to the savage, tricky, occasionally happy surprises in the torrent of that world. It took me awhile to get into it, but when I did, it read fast -- well done, Ms. Berger! For me, I deeply enjoy reading about women in business -- whatever the business -- and how they cope with the inevitable disasters. I received a copy of this book and these opinions are my own, unbiased thoughts.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
After struggling to get through this book for months, I decided to finally push through and give it a go. I must say, if it wasn't a Netgalley copy it would have been a dnf for me.
Having read the author's accomplishments, I expected a lot more substance from her. She is a very well educated, successful woman, but her debut novel seems to be written by someone else. I'm not sure what she was going for, but it wasn't a mystery nor a literary fiction novel.
It contained lots of fluff, and the characters lacked depth. For intelligent, independent, career-oriented women, their dialogue was very superficial. I guess if you're looking to lose yourself in a book without getting too involved, give it a go. But otherwise, you can probably skip this one.
I was lucky to receive an advance copy of the Royal Coconut Beach Lunch Club by Diane Bergner from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I enjoyed this book by the debut author and thought she had a great writing style. I loved the high society references and "mystery". I am excited to read more by her in the future.
I wouldn’t call this a mystery/suspense but there is sure a ton of drama when it comes to the world of fundraising!!!! The women are a mess and the drama just kept on coming. Even though it was a slow burn and main character goes through it at times, I can say I enjoyed this book. I loved the ending even though I felt it was a little rushed…..
I loved Julia so much this was definitely really interstresting to read took me awhile to finish but was so worth it
Thank you to #NetGalley, the publisher and the author.
I tried to read this book but couldn't get into it. Not sure if it was the plot or the characters so it was a DNF for me.
Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to receive this book for an honest review.
I looked foward to this books o much because it felt like the scandals in Palm Beach.
I wanted to be a fly on the wall.
It was a very slow read until the end it picked up.
If your willing to invest the time in reading this book then give it a try.
ortunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.
OMG! This book reads like a soap opera set on luxurious and dramatic beach club full of drama and secrets. Although I caould not relate to the super-rch and their snobbery, I could relate to Julia. Julia is the MC in this book and goes through a lot when she decides to change careers. From lawyer to fundraiser manager, Julia deals with many obstacles. Some of these obstacles make her question her decision, especially when someone tries to sabatoge her job.
I t hought this was a great book read even if many of the characters are unrelatable and unlikable. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future. Recommended.
Thanks to NetGalley, Diane Bergner and Meryl Moss Media Group for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book took me forever to read! I don't know what it was about but I really didn't like it. 2 stars is generous for me. I think the number one thing I had a hard time with was how much jumping around there was with things. One minute we are hearing about some lost check and the next the main character is sleeping with her husband. It just felt like too much rambling. I was excited in the beginning when we got to hear some juicy work place drama but then it just fizzled out for me. Not sure this is one I would recommend to others. I received this book to reivew.
This was a great beach read. In the story we are taken to the world of the glamorous non profits and clothes matter a lot. There is mystery involved and that was a nice touch.
Many thanks to Meryl Moss Media Group and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Royal Coconut Beach Lunch Club is the perfect easy read for summer! The light-hearted mystery had the perfect amount of suspense and alluring characters. I will definitely be recommending this beach read to everyone!
Thank you Diane Bergner, Meryl Moss Media Group and NetGalley for an advanced copy in return for an honest review.
