This book series is often described as Agatha Raisin meets Sookie Stackhouse, which is pretty accurate and I would add another comparison - Stephanie Plum meets What We Do in the Shadows....and it's delightful!

I did go back and read the first book in the series 'Grave Secrets' before diving into this one, and although not 100% necessary I would suggest it as it's just so much fun and a lot of the character work is established in book one.

This is a hugely entertaining mixture of quite gory horror, humour and romance (with some spice) but I am terrified my favourite character won't be in book three :(

Highly recommend!

Grave Danger is a fantastic addition to this series. It is lighthearted, yet gets serious at the right moments.

This sounded like it would be a hell of a fun ride from the blurb but ultimately turned out not to be for me. The writing style and the characters just weren’t what I expected nor what I had hoped they would be. Better luck on the next one.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

The main issue with this novel was that I had been waiting for three years and had to re-read the first in order to refresh my memory
That said I was glad I waited as it was a lot of fun, a mix of paranormal romance/urban fantasy/mystery that made me laugh and kept me turning pages.
Toni and the cast of characters are delightful and I had a lot of fun.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Hard pass on this series. I gave it 35% before having to dnf. Not a horrible book but not good either. The story, the writing style is just not for me.
I won't post on Instagram or goodreads any bad reviews. The author doesn't deserve it just because it was a bad fit.

This is one of the few times I have ever said that the second book is better than the first. In Grave Secrets, it felt like Alice James was still getting a feel for Toni Windsor and the characters, but in book two, she has definitely found her footing and her humor. Many of the problems that I had from book one (which I will not list because0 spoilers) were rectified in book two, and open up the world to more possibilities for our little necromancer real estate agent. The book was well-paced with plenty of action and lots of laughs. I am definitely interested to see how the rest of the series will play out!

When I requested this I did not realize that this was a second book in the series. So I might have enjoyed it a bit more if I did know that. However it had great qualities to it. I love a good cozy mystery with romance and some spice.

If you love paranormal open relationship tropes this book will be fore you!

I want to start by saying that I have read book one and you should start there as this is a series more defined by the relationships than the underlying murder mysteries. They are there but more for the MC to expand her relationships with her brother, her gifts and the local vampires. The MC is a mess and is slowly learning and realizing what is unhealthy in her relationships and moving beyond that. This is not an easy thing and was nice to see it done. They are light and fun and a fast read and I recommended them to anyone who is interested in that type of urban fantasy. I will be interested in reading the next one and hope that the MC is allowed to continue to grow and mature, which can be an issue in these types of series. However, as this is only book two, I am willing to wait for that growth.

I've got to be honest. I wanted so much more from this book. I was so excited to start this after reading the blurb, but the story didn't give me much to like.

The characters all felt very flat to me. The only one that I really enjoyed was Benedict, and the MC spends the majority of the story hating him. Meanwhile, the people she should have issues with (hello, Oscar), she still pines for and protects. Toni felt immature to me. You could've told me she was a teenager and I would absolutely believe you.

There was so much going on during this story, it was almost difficult to keep up with it. Everything felt scattered and all over the place, but I think the general idea was there. I can see why some people could adore this book. I wish I had.

Grave Danger feels very nostalgic of cozy murder mysteries that I've read over the years. More emphasis was placed on the mystery aspects of this book and I feel like they were done really well. The main murder mystery in this book had a really satisfying wrap up where I got to put together the puzzle pieces and workout the clues, which I was missing from the first book, Grave Secrets. The other mysteries in this series have continued to pile up and I am now anxiously awaiting the third book to get some answers.

While the mysteries in the second book were more satisfying than the first, I feel like some of the sparkle and humor was lost in the second book. The book is far more serious, and definitely doesn't call for as much humor, but it could have used the comic relief a little more too. There was less sparkle mostly in the sense that there was far less Bredon, and he really is a fantastic character that deserved more page time. And while I appreciate and like Toni's ability to forgive and fall in love, I wish that she hadn't been quite so forgiving in this book. Then again, if she was a harder person she wouldn't be the same character that I really do like. There was a little bit of romance but seeing as the book ended with her alone, I'd hardly call it a romance. The few spicy scenes were very enjoyable though.

Overall, I enjoyed Grave Danger almost as much as the first book, but for different reasons than the first, and I am already looking forward to the next installment.

If I am being honest, I did not think I would finish this book. It took probably until chapter 4 or 5 for me to start to become interested in what was happening. I was unaware that this was the second in a series, which might have made it easier for me to understand what was happening and/or who the characters way sooner in the book. I wasn't overly impressed with the main character, but I am in love with Benedict. The writing felt scattered - it seemed all over the place, and I almost got whiplash from how often Toni found herself in danger.

I think the premise of the book is super interesting, and I enjoyed the book - I just didn't love it. I'm debating reading the first one, and seeing if that changes my review at all.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rebellion Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I found Grave Danger to be an absolute page-turner. It's a murder mystery, a modern fantasy and a great piece of writing. Grave Danger features a perfectly-constructed murder mystery in which we're given all the clues, but subtly enough that you may fail on putting them together. This book has it all: love story, humor, staying true to yourself, defending yourself, falling love, falling out of love, family…and so much more. The ending leaves the reader with many questions unanswered, however, and a relationship cliffhanger – I will be eagerly anticipating the next book in the series to see what happens there!
