I received a copy of this audiobook from netGalley for a honest review.

What a lovely remembrance of Reba's mom, Family and how to life a grateful life. I loved the photos and recipes in the pdf but the family stories and advice on so many little basic things were what made this book,

I love the title of this book. Fancy is probably the best known Reba McEntire song, but she is just a good old country girl, who loves life, her family and her friends. This is not a tell all book, nor a book about her whole life, but contains snippets from her life, her career and the important things to her. I loved the narration, by Reba, herself. It was like she was talking to me and sharing her thoughts and life. I didn't know she was a barrel racer champion, not an Oklahoma Girl who still calls it home, even though she lives in Nashville now. I would have liked more about her in the last part of the book instead of stories about her friends, but that is what she finds important. The title is fitting. She shares about loving life, loving family and friends, loving her animals and her sorrow when she lost them as well as having fun and living life to the fullest. I listened to this one and luckily was able to get the .pdf that comes with the audiobook. There were some great pictures, I loved the big hair when she started her career, and some great recipes that she talks about in the book. The narration is wonderful, not only by Reba, but snippets from family, friends and others she worked with. Her sorrow when her band was in a tragic bus accident came through and had me close to tears. If you are a Reba fan, I definitely recommend you read or listen to this one.

Thank you to #NetGalley for an ARC of #NotThatFancy by Reba McEntire.
Reba McEntire, well-loved for her talent as a country artist and actress but also for her authenticity and girl-next-door persona, shares personal stories of family, faith, rodeoing, parenting, relationships, and living in this quick read, #NotThatFancy. I listened to the audiobook which Reba herself reads, and it truly felt as though I was sitting with a friend over a glass of sweet tea listening to her stories. Hearing the various emotions in Reba's voice was such a gift to me, the reader/listener. She laughs as she shares some of the stories and at other times is somber--her honesty, genuineness, and zest for life evident as she reads. These snippets from her life were entertaining and will be appreciated by her fans, while those less familiar with Reba McEntire can find inspiration to live boldly, chase dreams, love others well, and maybe even buy a pair of cowboy boots.

Overall, this was a fun book! I enjoyed Reba’s narration, but the actual story lacked direction. I wish there had been more structure to the organization rather than just disjointed events and stories.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Harper Celebrate Audio for an ARC of this audiobook.

I have been a Reba Mcentire fan for as long as I can remember. I was really excited to see that she had a new book out. This book is part memoir/ part cookbook / a little of a bunch of other things thrown in.

This was just really fun to listen to. The audiobooks has some extra interviews with some fellow country singers. I ended up checking this out from the library as a physical book as well and it has some beautiful photos.

So I would listen to this as an audiobook and then get the physical book so you can read the recipe's and check out all of the really cool photos.

Memoir

Reba shows us that life is just not that fancy in her latest memoir. With her quick wit and down home charm she takes you through her life and the things she does that just aren’t that fancy.

I loved this book in audio format with Reba and her wonderful voice narrating it. It also called to me in other ways because it reminded me that she is really human not different than you or me. All in all it was a great book and I would give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Reba did a wonderful job on the narration of her own story. Really made it seem like you were having a conversation with her. I ended up picking up a physical copy of the book to browse the recipes since those weren't narrated, which is to be expected. It wasn't a full detailed bio, but a great collection of glimpses into her life to give more insight into what makes her who she is.

This woman is a national treasure and must be protected at ALL costs!
Reba McEntire is an iconic legend that transcends genres and generations. This book is just a glimpse into
her life and what makes her the star that she is. Hearing her narrate the audiobook was special because it flowed like a conversation on her front porch sippin' sweet tea with her as a friend. I hope she writes more because I need more!

I just adore a celebrity memoir and will read one on almost anyone. Reba is someone. I know, but I don’t follow or listen to country music. I am very interested in her Broadway stuff and thought her TV show was pretty good, but I just don’t follow her music and I adored this book!! I did the audio, which Reba read to me. She laughs at some of her antics and stories and you can hear emotions in there too. She tells the good and bad about being Reba McEntire and even gives us some of her family recipes. I think this one would be fun for anyone looking for a fun celeb book on a star that hasn’t been in trouble with the law and loves God.

Let me start by saying that I LOVE Reba McEntire's music and personality. I was so very excited to be given an audiobook copy of this to review from the publisher & NetGalley. This is narrated by Reba herself and I mean who else could have done justice to something so personal! I actually went into the book thinking it was more about cooking and less about family, but I was wrong. There are recipes and tips for entertaining sprinkled in but the real "meat & potatoes" of the book come from the experiences and life lessons she talks about.

The book reads as though you have just been invited to hang out on her porch for conversation and drinks on a perfect summer day. I was moved listening to the stories about growing up ranching, her love of animals, and her deep love of family. My favorite part was listening to how she found her own personal style even when others tried putting her in a super dolled up box. She's just so authentic and unapologetically Reba fringe and all.

The run time is a little over 6 hours. I will be buying the print copy of this because I want to be able to see the pictures and have the recipes at my fingertips whenever I want to feel a little "Fancy". There are some pretty awesome bonus features that come with the audiobook version if that is more your style though.

I absolutely loved this audiobook narrated by Reba and a cast of country music friends and her siblings. This book is full of life lessons similar to McConaughey’s Greenlights. I loved that so much was shared about her growing up and her parents teachings. Bravo!

Thank you NetGalley and Harper Celebrate Audio in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Celebrate for a digital copy of the audiobook which was published on October 10, 2023.

This book was a lot of fun to listen to with Reba narrating it herself. She told many stories of growing up in Oklahoma on the farm and her early singing career. It had advice on many things such as how to be a friend, fun date nights, and ways to decorate for Christmas. I especially liked hearing about how she was reacquainted with actor Rex Linn and how he became the love of her life.

This is recommended for anyone who is a fan of Reba. There is an accompanied PDF with recipes and pictures from the book.

Not That Fancy is a glimpse into Reba's life through stories and recipes. From the origin of her singing career to getting into acting, being a parent, friend, and dealing with loss this book will have something for everyone. You do not need to be a fan of country music to enjoy this book, but if you are the audiobook is narrated by Reba and definitely the way to go.

I absolutely love and adore Reba. Not just for her movies and her shows but I am honored that I was able to arc read for it.

She is so humble, spunky, and she knows what she likes and sticks with it. I’ve never met her in her person but I would be overjoyed if I could. I truly admire all the work that she does and is an absolute inspiration and has a love for God that I truly admire. She also narrated her own audible and it just warmed my heart hearing her story!

For fans of country music in the 1980s and 1990s, the voice of Reba McEntire defined what you heard on the radio and her charisma electrified videos aired on CMT. Here, she reflects on her decades-long career making music, shares favorite recipes, as well as what brings her joy, the way her faith has guided her life, and the grief experienced over the loss of her beloved momma. Despite her many accolades and well-deserved awards, she remains grounded as a gal from Oklahoma, one with whom you could pull up a rocking chair and sit on the porch drinking sweet tea.
