#ProfileK #NetGalley This book started off a little bit slow for me and it took me a while to understand what Midnight's job as a profiler for Necto actually entailed. however, once the pace quickened I could not put this down. Lots of action, plenty of twists and turns and some great writing. I loved the fact that Dr Connie Woolwine (a regular in previous books by this author) made an appearance too! A great read.

If you want a fast paced , edge of your seat thriller , this is for you. This had me gripped from start to finish. It’s the story of Midnight and her twin sister Dawn who has a disability where she needs constant care. Midnight works for a high tech company and it’s here she comes across Profile K. There is a killer on the loose who likes blood and we get descriptions of gruesome violence towards women. What follows is a nail biting chase to find the killer and Midnight does not know who to trust . People are listening to her and watching her. I loved Midnight as a character, she is so strong and feisty. She loves her sister and will do anything to protect her. There are some tender moments in this novel especially the friendship between Jessica , Doris and Midnight. Well recommended.

Midnight comes across a profile at work, a profile labeled profile k, for killer. But no one seems to care or take her seriously. Then, people begin to die, and Midnight believes she is next. How can she find a killer, and save herself, when all she knows is the profile is a man?

More gore and action than I was anticipating. Midnight was likeable enough but with the tendency to take things into her own hands which sometimes makes things worse and leaves you yelling into your book for her to stop being so stupid. A good ride with multiple perspectives, Midnight, the applicant, and the cop to name a few, but not too many to lose track of the plot.

This is the second book I've read by this author, and I've decided that she's just not for me. I did like this book better than the previous one I read. Some of the plotline read a little like science fiction to me. I never was able to really understand Necto's profiling system or what the point was. I also did not buy into some of the police decisions, such as not investigating a burglary because nothing appeared to have been stolen. I liked the way the characters were written and especially liked Midnight, Jessica, and Doris. I also thought the parts with the killer were exciting and quite dark. I did think this could have been less than 400 pages long.

This book has a 4.59 rating and rave reviews on Goodreads, so definitely check it out!

Thank you, @netgalley and @avonbooksuk, for the #gifted e-arc of this book!

I had a feeling of deja-vu when reading the first few chapters of this book, in retrospect I think I probabily read a preview at the end of another book by this author. What a plot though, Midnight Jones is working at a psychological profiling company which sounds like something out of a dictator society . There are a couple of murders and Midnight starts to suspect that they are involved with a profile that she was working on . The individual seems to have psychopathic tendencies and when Midnight attempts to bring this to the notice of her managers, she is blocked at every turn.
I liked the main character, Midnight although together with her duties as the main carer to her twin sister, she is dealing with a lot. She is tough and the plot revolves around her investigating what is going on, with the murders and the company where she works. The book involves graphic crimes and perhaps pushes the bounds of reality in places, but it is fast paced and kept my interest throughout . It is an unusual book and the psycholigical profiling aspect does add up and makes interesting reading.
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

Profile K by Helen Fields is a Standalone thriller and what an excellent book from start to finish and one of the best books I have read in a long time. This latest book by Helen just gripped me from the beginning till the end and I loved the main character Midnight Jones and her name was brilliant.

Midnight Jones is an analyst and is trained to understand the human mind. But everything changes when, whilst she was working she discovers Profile K’s file!! This is no usual file as the K stands for killer, she knows that someone more dangerous than she could have ever imagined walks among them, they could be anywhere be they are capable of killing anyone! even before they commit his first crime.

News breaks with the brutal murder of a local woman, no one believes what she tells them: that he is capable of so much worse. Midnight know's he will Kill again but she has to find away of warning others.

Now, she realises that the moment she found his file was the moment she became his next target. Because Profile K is now coming for Midnight! He doesn't know where she is or where she lives but he will find her, the only way is to escape with her life is to find him before he finds her…......

Wow......Turn my page.........Quick..........WoW this book is so good I could not put it down.

Brilliant book and I highly recommend it

Big Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books UK for my ARC.

Superb psychological thriller with a dystopian sci-fi edge.

Midnight is a confident, intelligent and principled employee of a huge multinational company, working in its psychological profiling team.

Normally these tests are innocuous and used to align students with the courses which best suit their personalities, but Midnight's latest subject has received very unusual scores which require further investigation.

Unfortunately, as soon as Midnight starts analysing the results, the troubling applicant is automatically notified that she is dealing with the case.

Gripping and twisty with great characters.

Helen Fields delivers her usual excellent thriller work, this time with an added sci-fi twist. It was an unexpected change of tone from her previous books, but still an excellent read. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Profile K was like a breath of fresh air.
It had a profound uniqueness to that storyline along with plenty of other aspects.
I loved the main character’s willingness to do the right thing, ignore all around her and just do what was right no matter what.
The author had an amazing writing style and completely knocked it out of the park with this one.

This is a brilliantly dark, gripping, psychological thriller. Helen Fields is an expert at capturing the reader from the opening and holding you tight as you tensely make your way through the book.

The plot is so tightly plotted, touching on a dystopian feel, but scarily so real it is unnerving. Even the character names Midnight J and Vixen back up the futuristic feel. Her characters are developed so well that they leap off the page fully formed, some drawing empathy whilst others will make you shudder, and some, like Doris, make you smile widely. Lovely to ‘hear’ a cameo appearance from Doctor Connie Woolwine.

The business setting, the Necto Corporation, where Midnight J is employed as a psychological profiler for applicants to University or job applications, felt really authoritarian, with a controlling touch of big brother.

Be warned, some of the scenes are disturbingly horrific and described so vividly that the reader is left in doubt as to what is going on.

This book kept me gripped and felt like a deadly game of cat and mouse, with so much at stake. Thoroughly enjoyed it and strongly recommend if you like your thrillers dark!

Best opening chapter of the year so far goes to this book! I probably shouldn’t have read it whilst eating my lunch but definitely got me engaged!

Plenty of intriguing and shock horror moments that will have you either gagging and trying to look away or hungry for more. I loved the premise (although incredibly scary for our future) and of course our protagonist Midnight Jones - who I do hope we get to see more of in the future.

A real stand out thriller for me so far this year!

Wow! Where to start? A day after finishing this book I am still shaken up by it. Shocked, shaken and completely gripped. Another absolute cracker from one of my favourite authors. Detailed, gruesome, terrifying and a very clever concept. I was shocked to the core- it's terrifying to think companies could operate like this, carrying out such intense profiling that could ultimately interfere with someone's psyche. And that a company could monitor their staff to this extent. In addition to the shocking murders, I have much to mull over. Seeing into the mind of the murderer was fascinating if incomprehensible. Uncomfortable, shocking and utterly compelling reading. #netgalley #ProfileK

This was an absolutely riveting page turner which I struggled to put down when life tried to get in the way of me reading it, let that be a warning to you on picking this book up!
Midnight is a very interesting character, her parents made being responsible for Dawn a big part of who she is from a young age and this gives her a good grounding point and explains her need to find the truth behind what she has found in her working life and solve the mystery of the Profile K.
The story is told mostly by Midnight but with a chapter every so often from our mysterious Profile K. I did try and figure out who it might be but struggled as there were a few options in Midnight’s life as well as the possibility that it was someone we hadn’t met yet.
The ending, when it came, was very satisfying. All my questions and concerns were answered and yet I was also left feeling that we could return to some of these characters again at some point should the author decide they have more stories to tell.
This book has a great story arc from start to finish and some really interesting characters both in the spotlight and supporting those heroes and villains. I really enjoyed this book and will be getting more of this author’s back catalog to enjoy in future.

What would you do if your employer was putting your life in danger? It's something that shouldn't ever happen, right?

But let's be honest, not all employers are as ethical as we would like, or care about their employees as much as they would have you believe from their external marketing campaigns...

Necto is a highly sought after company, that everyone wants to work for. Amongst many other projects, Necto is responsible for data profiling for different types of clients. There are many different types of profiles returned, except Profile K.

'Profile K' is a profile that doesn't exist, or so Necto tell their employees. For 'K' stands for Killer.

Midnight Jones has a job as a data analyst that most people would kill for. But she has long questioned the ethics of the company that she works for. Her work for Necto involves profiling potential students for university applications, or so they tell her.

When Midnight stumbles across a 'Profile K' she takes it to her boss, thinking that she's doing the right thing. When he doesn't want to take any action, she takes it to his boss, not caring about the consequences, she needs to make sure that they know what is happening.

Midnight isn't expecting the reaction she gets, but she is glad that Necto appear to be taking it seriously. That is until shortly after, when Necto decide to have a restructure, earning Midnight a promotion, but taking her away from the Profile.

She is certain that the company is trying to hide something, but she doesn't know what, or just how much danger she is in, until she's in too deep.

This is a fast paced thriller of a novel that I absolutely loved. Something very different, and very clever. Highly recommended.

I recently read ‘Profile K’, a mesmerizing thriller that kept me engrossed and engaged throughout. The author did an excellent job of creating a suspenseful atmosphere that kept me guessing and wanting to read more. The killer's mind was portrayed in a terrifying manner, and the opening scene was both gruesome and captivating.

The story revolves around Midnight Jones, who works for Necto, a tech company that specializes in analysing the psychological profiles of job applicants. When she comes across Profile K, someone with no boundaries and no empathy, she is alarmed and reports her findings to her bosses. However, her concerns are dismissed, and she is left to deal with the situation on her own.
The author skilfully portrays Midnight as a warm and caring person with a challenging life. She is the primary caretaker for her twin sister Dawn, who has special needs, and her parents have abandoned her. Despite the difficulties she faces, she remains committed to her sister and does everything in her power to ensure her well-being.

The book is filled with twists and turns that keep the reader absorbed and on edge. The author doesn't shy away from the gruesome and graphic details, which adds to the overall suspense and horror of the story.

In conclusion, I enjoyed this book immensely and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good thriller.

Just WOW! My first Helen Fields book but most definitely not my last! I loved the premise, it felt like getting the inside scoop into a killer’s mind this hooked my at the very beginning and just never let go. Fabulous characters that helped deliver this dark and disturbing tale. Huge fan!
Thank you NetGalley and Helen Fields for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Totally brilliant
It got me hooked from page one. The plot thickens and there are so many connections between characters. I was blown away by the complexity of the story and just how easy Hele. fields made it all seems so real.

I am a big fan of the Luc Callanach series by this author, so was keen to read this

Midnight Jones is an analyst working for a biotech company, who check personality profiles. When she comes across an extremely worrying profile that is a Profile K, an extreme personality nicknamed K for killer, she tries to bring this to management attention. However the company are very keen on Midnight staying quiet and she is warned that any information released could lead to dismissal and legal action.

Midnight is understandably wary, she looks after for her disabled sister and the carers cost a lot of money.

When a local woman is murdered and some of the video footage is similar to the footage used to assess the Profile K, Midnight wonders if this candidate has killed. And she could be a target….

This was a very enjoyable crime thriller.

Thanks must go to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review.

Wow! A rip roaring, non stop thriller with relentless action - I couldn’t put it down!
Midnight Jones is a profiler, screening applicants and their responses to scenarios. She also cares for her twin. Dawn, who has learning difficulties and is fiercely protective of her sister. When she comes across a file that she identifies as a profile K - Killer - her company turns against her and Midnight becomes a target for the killer.
A brilliant read.

I have read all of Helen Fields ‘Perfect’ series so I know she can write a good story. This is a standalone story about big business and how far it will go to gain an edge. It’s also the story of one woman’s love for her twin sister whom she cares for and how far she (Midnight) will go when she knows something is wrong. She realises that one of the profiles she is assessing is ‘off the charts’ and that coincides with a particularly vicious murder - she has a hunch they are connected. Midnight is willing to put herself in danger to prove the truth. I liked the contrast between the gruesome murders and the interactions between Midnight and her sister Dawn as well as her friends. I always look out for a Helen Fields book. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for an ARC.
