I enjoyed this debut from Alexandra Paige and will be looking out for future novels from her.

The romance of this and overall plot was cute and reminded me of New Girl. I liked the found family aspects and overall friendships. I liked the main female character’s journey as well.

Overall, I enjoyed this and would recommend it.

First time reading this author. Story of friendship and love told over the course of a year in monthly weekend installments .Lucy is an American living in the UK. She can't afford her rent increase and moves in with her best friend in a warehouse shared with six other people. The roommates have busy lives and agree to spend an entire weekend together 1 weekend a month. Generally they meet just one weekend a month because that's when their flat mate , Henry, is back in town after traveling the rest of the month for work. Lucy has an attraction to handsome and mysterious Henry . But she is also trying to live out her dream as a florist at a struggling flower shop. We learn about Lucy in the book but the remaining characters are not well developed and I found it hard to keep track of them . I felt the book could have flowed better. The writing did not pull me in to get invested in trying to learn about the multitude of characters.

The summary made me so excited to read this book. However, I really didn’t like Henry. He was annoying and unlikable and it made the book hard to read. I usually love the roommate trope but this one wasn’t it for me.

Weekends with You is a cute coming-of-age romance where a down-on her luck florist moves in with 8 roommates to help save money only to fall in love with the least available man in the house. Henry is only home twelve weekends out of the year, and each weekend he is home al of the roommates set out to do something fun all together. Because of Henry's minimal time, the romance between Lucy and Henry was a very slow burn and at times felt like it was more surface level than swoon worthy. Lucy looked at him with hearts in her eyes, falling for his charmingly good looks, but it was hard as a reader to see the connection between the two of them past physical attraction. I loved getting to know about types of flowers and London, and thought the multiple roommate dynamic was very fun and relatable.

Lucy is a florist in London and her financial issues have her moving into a warehouse flat situation with her best friend and 5 others, including Henry. Henry is immediately drawn to Lucy but Henry’s job leaves him traveling all but one weekend a month. The flatmates take turns hosting a Warehouse Weekend where they all hang out and this is the only time that Lucy and Henry see one another. They have an on again off again situation while Lucy is trying to figure out her career and Henry is trying to figure out his life.
This was a very interesting concept for a romance story and generally speaking a liked it. There was a lot of miscommunication between Lucy and Henry, or rather non-communication, that led to relationship issues which is a frustrating trope for me, but it did work in the context of the story. I did feel frustrated with Henry in parts of the story but I was still rooting for Lucy and Henry and I was pleased by the seemingly happily ever after. I also really enjoyed the other characters in the story. The banter between all of the roommates was funny and witty and they all had such unique personalities that came out in the various Warehouse Weekends that they each planned. I thought this was a fun fairly quick read that I would recommend.

It kind of hurts me to have to rate this so low, because I really enjoyed Alexandra Paige's writing style. AND!!!!!! despite my rating, I actually think this is a very good debut novel. However, this is marketed as a romance novel, so I feel that I have to base my review on the romantic relationship between the main characters. Slight spoilers ahead!!!!

FIRST let me start with what I loved:
- As I said before, I love how Alexandra writes. She did a great job at making me feel like I was actually in London living with this insane group of people. There were a loootttt of characters in this, and each of them was dynamic in their own way.
- Speaking of all of those characters, I adored their little apartment. Living with that many people at once sounds like my own personal hell, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading about it and the complexities of the relationships between roommates. Everyone had their own little quirks that made them both more and less lovable to their flatmates, and it was just so fun to explore that.
- My favorite part of the book was Lucy's professional journey and her learning how to combine her love for flowers with her ambitions to bring the store to new heights. If the book was mostly focused on this, I would've been very happy with it, but I felt like her own plot line was overshadowed by that man (gross.)

Now.......... what I didn't love:
- This book so perfectly depicts exactly what it's like to date in your 20s in the worst way possible. I constantly felt triggered (YES, TRIGGERED) by the things that man would do and say to the point that I was getting Vietnam-War-style flashbacks to shitty men in my own past. I fell in love with Lucy, and now you're telling me I have to watch her fall all over herself for a fucking loser......... Don't piss me off.
- That man was SO manipulative that it physically hurt to finish reading this. Lucy deserved so much better than to spend an entire year on that man's hook. I do not care if you can't decide where you want to live, you can't drag people along while you figure it out. I'm not faulting him for having his own struggles, I'm sure it was very hard to feel like he did, but he was so unfair in the way he approached things with Lucy, and I wish the author had given her a stronger backbone. She's sitting around and waiting for a man that might never come when she has so much other shit to worry about?!?!?!?! BYEEE

Okay that's as far as I'm going to go without giving too too much away or going off on a misandrist rant.

TLDR; Alexandra Paige, I love you, but I wish you would've killed off your MMC <3

She begins to fall for Henry, who is only around one weekend a month due to his job as a traveling photographer.

As we watch Lucy's life play out, she has to come to terms with what she wants and who she is.

Writing is fine, you will read a lot of the details about Lucy and her flatmates, which was not quite what I was expecting. Not meant to be funny but more poignant.

Such a great, light-hearted read. This book was such a good read to drown out the rest of the world and had me grinning from beginning to end!

This is a very cute debut. I love the premise - especially the group of quirky flatmates and their monthly rotating themed activities.

I also loved how the book was a little chapter a month at a time, to space out some of the day to day and remove extraneous bits. The two sentence update game they played cleverly filled in those gaps.

On a personal note, I will say I think I’m a little older than the intended audience for this story, so I lost some connection there. However that’s just a personal thing and I’m sure will be different for other readers.

This is an interesting take on a possible long-distance relationship – where one of the protagonists is planning on leaving London when they find the place of their dreams... through a year of visiting a different country each month. Not exactly the basis of a new relationship, and yet Lucy and Henry find that they are strongly attracted to each other, and might just give it a chance, or not.

I found that I liked Lucy far more than Henry and was glad that she had her floristry career as a significant part of her life. And whilst I understood her loyalty to him, even when another suitor appears on the scene, Olivier was clearly a nicer guy and behaved in a much kinder way than Henry did.

The Warehouse weekends were a fun concept for a book, as it made sure we could catch up with all the residents and get a better view of their priorities and lifestyle. I imagine that there could be future installments involving their future loves.

LOVED!! This was such a sweet story about found family and friendships! An absolutely adorable romance!

I loved the banter, the angst, the love, and friendships. This was just an overall really sweet and special book! This was a wonderful debut novel from Alexandra Paige! She had a beautiful writing style and captured the characters perfectly. I look forward to reading more from her! Definitely add this to your tbr list!

This was a cute romance. I really enjoyed the concept of them not being together and seeing them both on a journey in their personal lives.

It did feel like the same breakup happen twice in a row. I would have like to perhaps see a different reason each time. It make me start to dislike the heroine at the end.

Overall though, it was a great story with a lot of loveable characters. I would be delighted to read more of each of them!

Thank you so much for the copy of Weekends With You. I liked it a lot! I related with the characters being in the age/same place in life as they are. I enjoyed Oliver’s introduction at the NYE party and then again as business, but wished there was a little more depth to that relationship as well as all the characters. The dialogue was great but apart from the witty banter I didn’t really know each member of the house. Lucy seemed to have picked up a lot of English jargon, and her being the only American didn’t really add much to the plot for as much as it was mentioned. I also wished Lucy gave Henry a harder time before letting him back into her life. I appreciate that this wasn’t completely a miscommunication trope and career aspirations are a genuine obstacle deserving of effort outside of love and budding romance. Henry just seems to have gotten off too easily, but again still really liked the book.

This book started off so strong! The concept of this book was a great one. A group of friends living in a shared space so that they can afford the rent, but still carve out time to plan one weekend a month where they spend time together. The characters were written so well that you can not help but love them. What got me was the repeated miscommunication and false starts to Lucy and Henry's relationship. While the miscommunication trope is not something that I enjoy reading, this was still a fun and light-hearted read.

Weekends with You is Alexandra Paige's debut novel, and I can already tell I am going to be with her for the long haul! This story was funny, heartbreaking, and magical all at once, and I particularly loved the London setting. I marked it down as a summer/beach read because I could see someone completely getting lost in this story while sitting on a beach or a deck in the sunshine. It was engaging and I didn't mind that each chapter was set so far apart. I felt like I still got to know the characters really well, and the found family aspect completely stole my heart. I loved how the title played into the storyline as well, and the entire book reminded me of a setup for a movie. If it was, I would totally watch it BTW.

The audiobook for this novel was great, and I loved the way Eva Kaminsky brought Lucy and the magic of the storyline to life. Paige did an excellent job breathing life into her setting, and I felt like I was right there in London and the other locations this book takes place. I love flowers, so of course I was also smitten by that being a part of the story. My only minor complaint for this one was that I felt as though Lucy and Henry’s relationship was a bit toxic with all the times he messed up and then Lucy forgave him. Relationships are messy though, so I will allow it. 😜 I think this is a very strong debut from a talented writer, and I can’t wait to see what she does next!

While the premise and the friend relationships in this one were really enjoyable I absolutely hated the male love interest which completely pulled me out of this story. This book follows Lucy a florist who is afraid the small floral shop that she works in is in danger of closing down. She moves in with her friend into a communal kind or situation with 8 (I think) roommates living together. One of the roommates Henry catches her eye only problem is he is constantly traveling for work so the two are only really able to build their relationship in small weekends throughout the year but will that be enough for the two or will the distance be to much.

I thought this book had a really neat premise and I really enjoyed Lucy as a character and her struggles with her job and her friendship but I could have done without the romance or Henry. Henry was my issue with this book in that I thought he did not treat Lucy the way she should be treated and kind of couldn’t care less if they ended up together or not. I was more invested in the friendships and Lucy’s journey. That being said I enjoyed the writing and would definitely pick up another book by this author. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

I started off loving this book, loving Henry, and loving Lucy. And if I’m honest, it still would be about a 4 star read for me. But I am SO tired of these books where the guy messes up and then comes back and apologizes and the girl forgives only for the guy to mess up again and come back and apologize and once again the girl forgives… and then it happened again?? I was actually hoping that she wouldn’t forgive and she’d find a happily ever after without him, but that’s never how these stories go is it? By the end, I just didn’t care about the lead male anymore because I personally was tired of forgiving him and I also lost respect for the female lead for being so dang forgiving. Sometimes it doesn’t work out and that’s ok. But if you want every romcom to work, then this book is for you.

I loved this book. It was a sweet romance that I could not put down. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys romance with a great plot.
