"Minx" by Sophie Lark is a kink-filled contemporary romance that explores the relationship between an escort and her very rich, powerful client. It's not my typical book choice, but I found myself enjoying it nonetheless.

The book is easy to read, with suggested music added throughout, adding a unique and engaging touch to the experience. However, be warned—"Minx" is sexually graphic and pushes boundaries, making it a bold choice for readers who are comfortable with explicit content.

While some of the phrasing and wording seemed off to me, and there were a few cringy moments, the overall story kept me entertained. This one isn’t for everyone, but if you are looking for an easy, fun romance read that leans heavily into kink or smut, you might enjoy "Minx".

3.5/5 ⭐ but I still feel a bit conflicted...

2/5⭐ for the spice in this book, definitely not for everyone.
4/5⭐ for the banter, character development, and emotional depth that I wasn't expecting.

I went into this book blind and I'm glad I did. There's NO WAY I would have read it if I knew what it included. After the initial shock, I was impressed that Sophie Lark could make something so taboo... make sense for these characters?

Spice level is HIGH and not at all conventional. I'm not surprised at all that the first spicy scenes were enough to make many people DNF this book. However, if you can get past that, I am happy to report that these characters are actually very likeable and the story did drag me in. Did I cringe, hide my face from my kindle, and get extreme second-hand embarrassment? Yeah... but somehow I still ended up liking this book. So, kudos to Sophie Lark. Other books I've read that are a similar level of spiciness have little to no story or characters that are so stupid, like Priest. This was so much better and actually had some depth to it.

What to Expect:
✨ Billionaire romance
✨ Escort & client
✨ Kinky / Pet play
✨ BDSM
✨ Porn with plot

Minx by Sophie Lark is a captivating dark contemporary romance that defies expectations and delivers a blend of steamy passion and emotional depth. Lark's ability to craft a story that surprises and engages the reader is truly commendable. The characters, especially Ramses Howell and Blake Abbot, are portrayed with complexity and evolve through a game that blurs fantasy and reality.

The narrative unfolds with a self-made man, Ramses, and the intriguing Blake, whose dynamic and the game they play lead them to cross boundaries they never imagined. Lark's writing style keeps the reader hooked, exploring themes of desire, control, and self-discovery in a way that is both intense and thought-provoking.

Overall, Minx stands out as a standout romance of the year, offering a quick, fast-paced read filled with steamy scenes and a storyline that challenges conventional romance tropes. For readers seeking a romance novel that combines sensuality with emotional vulnerability, Minx is a compelling choice that leaves a lasting impression.

Minx, is a great book to read if you're a fan of the movie Pretty Women. This is a contemporary romance, dual perspective, with a Dom/sub play. It was a very entertaining read. I love how Blake and Ramses are very much on the same playing field both brilliant, sexy, independent with a great feel for finance and business and they help each other. It was a fast-paced story, very low on suspense and drama, but about 4 on the spice scale for me, it was hot! This book focuses more on relationship development and sharing secrets with each other. I did think that there was going to be more plot around her ex-boyfriend, but it kind of faded out and was not as suspenseful as it was led to believe. I love Sophie Larks writing; she does a great job and I feel like I just fly through these pages. There are a number of art prints included and I love the added visual and so pretty. Please check trigger warnings before reading there are several. This is a great book, emotional at times, and an amazing connection with the main characters. Definitely check it out.
I received an ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.

I liked the chemistry between Ramses and Blake, she remained mysterious for him even though he is a powerful man with a lot of money. behind him. Definitely alpha male desperate to take control of the woman he desires. Somewhat dark story, but not extremely dark. I enjoyed it and it was so steamy!

Minx by Sophie Lark was the perfect mix of spice and plot, plus a lot of heart. The characters and their dynamics were so interesting. I love these two hustlers. I really enjoyed Blake and her strength and determination, and how much Ramses wanted to take care of her. And the artwork and soundtrack throughout made it even more fun and entertaining! I love the first person dual POV, and that it’s a dark contemporary romance set in NYC with a billionaire MMC, age gap, and family drama. Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for this eARC!!

Ooh, this was Sophie Lark’s spiciest yet which is saying something! It was pure erotica, very little plot in my opinion but hey at least it wasn’t marketed otherwise! The characters were…interesting to say the least and the tropes were more or so the kinks. The cover is gorgeous pand I’m happy for Sophie exploring new sub-genres and breaking boundaries. I just don’t think this one is for me!

Though super spicy, this was also surprisingly sweet. Sophie Lark did a fantastic job with this story. It was believable, the two MC’s were both relatable which in a billionaire romance is hard to do. Ramses and Blake may have all the trappings of a wealthy life, but both of them got there by hard work and sheer determination.
I have only read Sophie’s mafia books so wasn’t sure what to expect, but she crafted this with such a deft hand. The way she made me not only like pet play but swoon over it shows how good a writer she really is. When Blake became Minx it wasn’t derogatory or to make her feel less than. The way Ramses was able to bring her strength and comfort through role playing was beautiful to read. It kinda made me wish I could fit into a catsuit.

4/5 🌶

This was such an enjoyable and fun tab boo read. I think this is the most pet play heavy book I've ever read, I've had occasional scenes, but not a main keeenk and I was really surprised with how much I loved it.

The first Minx scene was so dang good, as was the last not so Minx scene. And truly everything in between too. This one is definitely spice heavy, but Sophie wrote the outside plot so well that it doesn't take over the book entirely, which I also really loved.

I was expecting more from the third act... Revenge against Reeves should have been it and not a break up *insert upside down emoji* but alas, it was great nonetheless. I really loved all the financial stuff and the the Sadie and Briggs' subplots (gimme their book pleaseeee)

All in all this was a fantastic read and I'm excited to see what Sophie has in store for us next.

This book is very different from what I usually read. The majority of this book is basically just sex and kinky shit which is fine if that’s what you like to read but now that I’ve read it I don’t think it’s something for me!

Aside from that I thought that the characters were interesting. They were both intelligent and them together as a couple was powerful.

There was a lot of character art in this which was so fun! I loved it. It helped giving me a clearer picture of how to imagine the characters which is a bonus!

I love Sophie Lark and have been a huge fan of the Brutal Birthright Series. I cannot wait to read Anastasia, Kingmakers series, and the Sinners Duet. However, I did not like Minx. I didn't enjoy any part of this book. Thank you NetGalley and BloomBooks for letting me read the ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

Sophie lark is a goddess writing and this book Minx is no exception, loved every minute reading this book and I knew I would of course. Captivating plot and character development was beautifully written !

I adore Sophie Lark's writing style so when I saw this book was available, I just had to read it. I went in pretty blind so I was certainly surprised! The storyline was like Pretty in Pink but with more rich people shenanigans, including stock trading descriptions. The art is pretty and I loved the music cues for scenes. Also A+ for the spice, although it might not be for everyone.

So why only 2.5 - 3 stars?

I had trouble connecting with the characters. Maybe I wasn't in the right mindset. I liked how unique the characters were. I loved how powerful the female lead felt at times and the male lead was morally grey, which is interesting. I think they didn't feel romantic enough. They were both headstrong, wild and amazing, but I just felt unsure about their romantic compatibility.

I love Sophie Lark, but I think this one was a bit of a miss for me. I might come back to it someday, but for now, it's a DNF.

Thank you Sophie Lark, Netgalley and Bloom for providing an ARC, my thoughts are my own.

I went in for the spice, stayed for the ROMANCE and rich people drama!! This is one of those views into the life of billionaires that feels like a fantasy world which is honestly fun escapism. So our MMC Ramses gets intrigued by and then hires escort FMC Blake after seeing her work a room and realize there’s more to her than meets the eye. What kicks off next are power plays from the two of them leading to the realization that they may have just met their match. Each has a history they work to protect and competitive goals.

There is so much deepness to this book. This covers loneliness, trauma, and loss and then some. Blake has watched the world and learned how to work her way into it, sometimes the hard way, and the wisdom she shares while also dealing with the pain of simply being seen as a object for men. They learn to trust each other against all odds and I wanted to cry for them for their vulnerability but truly I was just cheering them on!! It’s dual POV so it’s pretty safe in that regard where the angst doesn’t twist you up too much.

The perfect quote from this on their dynamic is this: “ Honesty is like taking off a piece of clothing—you’re watching the other person’s face to see how they respond.” They are both such power players and I have never cared so much about stocks and trading.

And btw the spice I came for- did not disappoint. It is so hot and all the internal push and pull mental games as well were delicious. Highly recommend!

Thank you to Bloom Books for an eARC. The added character art throughout has such a unique style, it was very cool.

Ramses is at the top of his game. He is making more money then most people can even imagine. He most certainly isn’t looking for a relationship. When he meets Blake he decides he want her but little does he know that he isn’t the hunter but the hunted. Blake is a high-class escort. She is very selective about who she takes as a client and only takes on a few at a time. And now she wants to add Ramses to her roster. She has big plans to have the kind of money she couldn’t even imagine as a kid and now she makes a fortune as an escort. Ramses is just the prize she needs to continue on her journey. Will they destroy each other on the drive toward success or will they find lasting love?

I think Ramses is an interesting choice as a lead in a romance novel. He isn’t a nice guy and the author doesn’t ever make him a nice guy. He believes he can use his money to accomplish anything he sets his mind on and I’m not sure that he has learned that he can’t by the end of the story. Does he change? Yes, he learns a lot about himself and that his drive to achieve goals doesn’t have to make him cruel. In the end, I wanted him to find happiness and some sort of contentment. Blake, on the other hand, has a huge journey. She only works as an escort because she learned young that her body and looks were worth big money to the right people. Her drive to achieve financial freedom was understandable given her backstory. Through the events in the book, her perspective changes and she fine tune the big goal. The scenes with Ramses and Blake working together on financials were an excellent addition to the story. I thought the side characters were a solid addition to the story. I like that they have a story as well even if the author didn’t give lots of details about it.

I knew going into this story that there would be adult activity scenes. I didn’t enjoy that part of the book. They have a unique adult relationship that made me a bit uncomfortable. I don’t want to get into details, but it has nothing to do with Blake being an escort or the fact that she is totally comfortable with her body. It is the power dynamic and how they expressed it that I didn’t like. In the end, that’s the one negative I had.

This is a contemporary romance set mostly in New York. Both characters are full grown adults with careers. I will read more from this author in the future.

This was my first time reading anything by Sophie Lark, and now I am kicking myself for not reading her books sooner! This book was so fun, so steamy, and impossible to put down. I'm so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to read this!

In Minx, we follow Blake who is an escort for some of the richest men on Wall Street and she cannot be tamed. Ramses Howell is one of the biggest self-made men on Wall Street who has his eye on Blake, but not for the same reasons all the other men do. Ramses sees a strong, financial powerhouse in Blake, and knows that she has the potential to beat out all the men she has been seeing in her several years as an escort. At its core, this book is about empowerment, love, loss, found family, This book so much more than meets the eye, and was such a joy to read. I will be recommending this to anyone that is looking to step out of their comfort zone or anyone who wants a great mix of spice and character driven storylines.
One of the most entertaining books I've read in a long time. Utterly addicting and impossible to put down! I can't wait to read everything else she has written!
