Every woman over 30 should own this book! For a phase of life that all women go through, we know and talk so little about it. And we have been finding that we are all suffering in silence, needlessly. This book is both informative and empowering. It is a comprehensive look at the various symptoms women suffer from while going through this stage of life, many of which many women and doctors would not associate with hormone imbalance. A lot of the science is discussed, the differing ways to manage these symptoms, and the benefits of using hormone therapy. This book can assure women that there are ways to feel more like yourself during a very frustrating and confusing perimenopause and menopause phase of life. The author empowers the reader by providing clear information to make informed decisions and to encourage the reader to advocate for themselves until they find the answers relief they are searcing for from medical professionals. Highly recommend this book, and I will refer back to it multiple times in coming years, no doubt.
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for this ACR.

Dr. Haver has proven herself to be one of the leading menopause doctors in the US. Highly recommend this book for those navigating perimenopause or menopause, as well as her first book, the Galveston Diet.

Dr. Mary Claire Haver does it again. This book is a comprehensive look at menopause and ways to manage it. I found the book so helpful that I went out and bought my own copy before I even finished with the ARC. This is a recommended read for anyone entering perimenopause, menopause, or knows someone going through this experience.

This is a well written book with a lot of wisdom. I am thankful for the chance to have read this. Will recommend to others with a similar interest.

I found this to be a very important book, jam-packed with lots of information, suitable for returning to and reflecting upon when future issues may arise. Haver also provided lots of resources for further research, which I appreciated instead of her claiming to have the best advice herself. She did not claim anything without a study or facts to back it up. The text could be a little clinical at times, but again, if I was experiencing a certain symptom or situation, I would simply refer back to that section and it might mean a lot more to me at a different time. I appreciate a reference where all of this is in one convenient place. I do feel that having the actual text in front of the reader, rather than just listening, will be more beneficial with this resource, but she did read her own material.
I follow Haver on social media and feel that she is candid and realistic, and perhaps more importantly is going through this right along with many of us. Highly recommend!
Thanks to NetGalley and Rodale Books for this ARC. All opinions are mine.

This is a great guide (makes a great gift) for women ages 40 and up. Dr. Haver explains menopause and it's effect on our bodies. She also shares a "toolkit" with ideas for various symptoms we often face. She does really believe in hormone replacement therapy, so she seems to push it a lot, but after reading this, I think it's something almost all menopausal women should use. She has a great writing style-easy to understand and easy to read. I'm a fan of hers, and an even bigger fan of hers after reading this book.

I’ve been following Dr. Haver for a while now and am so glad I got this book right when my Perimenopause stared. Of course it’s a self diagnosis, because my PCM (a female similar to my age) denied me being in Perimenopause.

A few days ago I also bought the Galveston Diet book by the same author and am trying to make my natural body change more manageable with these two books!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A menopause book for this generation of women who need it now. I am a follower and a fan of Dr. Mary Claire Haver and her Instagram page and very much appreciate her evidence-based research on this topic when much of what is out there is not. The topic is so overwhelming, and it is so frustrating that we are so far behind on the research I am hopeful for the future with Dr. Haver's work and find this book a helpful start.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rodale Books for the ARC!

This book is so good! I am recommending it to all my friends. The first part about this historical treatment of menopause was critical to understanding where we are today. I appreciated her knowledge and perspective and how she made it easy to understand the research. I also liked the second part where she addressed specific symptoms. I will be referring to this book and sharing it with friends.

As someone who has had a hysterectomy and been thrown into perimenopause, this book was helpful to understand the different stages and symptoms. At the end of the day though, this book is a defense and recommendation of hormonal therapy which I think is still useful since there are so many misconceptions out there. It did make me less afraid to ask my doctor about options. But if you are very against hormone therapy, do not pick up this book unless you do have an open mind.

This is a must read for any individual who is 30 or older and was born with a uterus. Filled with the latest scientific research and info related to perimenopause and menopause. The information within these pages will not only help you live a better and healthier life as you age, but it could absolutely save your life.
If you're not keen on scientific info, there is a huge section at the back of the book that lists all of the many, many symptoms related to menopause, and the most up to date info on how to best combat those symptoms, whether it be through medicine, lifestyle changes, supplements, etc.
I cannot recommend this enough. I have learned so much. I already booked an appt with my Doctor, so I can have the best possible start to my transition to menopause.

This book was a GameChanger for me. My only regret is that I did not read it sooner! I am 52 and I wish someone had told me when I was about 45 to start looking for some of the symptoms described in this book. I found this book to be informative and a great reference. All women need to read this!

We needed this. This is accessible for all women. This isn't a book you need a college degree to understand and it is jammed packed with information that will help women advocate for themselves. Everything is in simple terms. This book should be in the consumer health section of every library.

Dr Mary Claire Haver walks us through the menopause journey with insights from what she herself has gone through and learned, plus the path others have taken to get the help needed that has so long been denied and misunderstood in the menopause care.

Loved everything about this INFORMATIVE book! I love that she had women and their stories of what they went through to get help - helping readers to know they are not alone and there is hope. She gives a toolkit of symptoms and different actions to combat them. And my favorite is the info that I can take to my next visit to help advocate for myself instead of listening to the dr say, “we don’t do testing for post menopausal women!” Whether you are going through this journey now, or you know it’s coming, GRAB IT NOW.

I highly recommend this book for women going through menopause but also PERIMENOPAUSE!!! I wished i had this info before I became post menopausal. I am thankful I will get to use the info for my next dr visit -as will you!

In The New Menopause, Dr. Haver is passionate about explaining all aspects of this significant life transition. She is thorough in her discussion of the history of menopause care. Dr. Haver also clarifies the current effective treatment of symptoms and dispels much of the confusion and misinformation surrounding menopause. The book is very upbeat in nature, encouraging readers to educate themselves in preparation for productive healthcare visits. The author also includes a helpful “Tool Kit,” which contains an alphabetical list of symptoms and possible treatments.
The New Menopause is packed with useful information, and I learned quite a bit while reading it. I plan to recommend it to friends and family.

Excellent resource. Very well researched and appreciated all the hard work that went into getting all this information together. I believe this book is an important read for anyone, male, female, young or old that has someone in their life that may be experiencing any or all the symptoms that are listed in Dr. Haver's book. I will be keeping my eye out for more books along this genre, and hope to see more resources like this, and hope more doctors to listen to women and educate themselves by reading this book. Easy to read and appreciate that it doesn't read like a textbook, but is more conversational in tone.

I am keeping this review short and simple. This book has some good information in it, including a tool kit listing and explaining the multiple symptoms women may experience. It is great to have for reference and advice. It helps you advocate for yourself.

I personally feel this would be a great book to read before perimenopause begins. There is more to it than the basic hot flashes and night sweats.

💕Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing this ebook for me to read and review.

I recently found The Galveston Diet. When I saw The New Menopause was written by the same author, I had to read and review. This book was chocked full of info for people just like me who are entering this phase of my life. This book had lots of great info and advice. The book had chapters that described different menopause symptoms anyone might be experiencing. I loved how simple and informative this book was. Thank you so much Mary Clair Haver for writing an informative book that all women can understand. Huge thanks to Rodale books and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

I have been a big fan of Dr. Mary Claire since my dear book club friend began following the Galveston Diet program. I appreciated the common sense approach to her proposed lifestyle changes and her focus on the reduction of inflammation, so I followed suit. Fast forward two years, and yes, ladies and gents, my body has had a mind of its own lately. Looks like perimenopause is on the horizon, and I certainly
do not want to be caught unawares. So, when I was given the opportunity to read this wise woman's upcoming release, I was all over it! Plus, she's an ObGyn here in the Houston area, so that makes it all the more accessible!

This book is CHOCK-FULL of important information to navigate the inevitable changes in our bodies as we age. Dr. Haver is clear and concise, with patience and womanly intuition that makes all the difference in a female doctor.

I love how the book is split into 2 parts: Part One is The Story of Menopausal Medicine, explaining its history (or lack thereof) and the current trend to normalize this shift and make it comfortable for us women folk. Part Two goes into the specific symptoms that come along with this shift in hormones and the best strategies to deal with each concern. Each section is detailed and gives readers a precise plan of action to navigate some of the discomforts of this huge transition.

Dr. Haver is a visionary in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, and she is forging a new path for women of a certain age to be able to have more control and direction in their choices as it relates to their own body's shift. Her commitment to putting the power in our hands is refreshing, and I highly recommend this book to women, their friends, and family members.

As the good doctor says, "𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆; 𝒔𝒖𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕."

WE'VE GOT THIS, THANKS TO DR. MARY CLAIRE HAVER!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House for this gifted review copy.
