The Last Mrs. Parrish should’ve been a standalone novel. For this story to make any sense (which it doesn’t), the reader has to believe that the protagonist would do something supremely dumb.

The villains are so disgusting that the book wasn’t enjoyable for me to read. And the characters that aren’t awful people are dumb and make horrible decisions. This book is making me question why I liked the first one. On the one hand, it’s a suspense novel that’s not that serious, but on the other hand, something about a sequel to an abuse story that involves more abuse to the survivor feels especially distasteful and weird to partake in.

My review has been published on Goodreads on 5/14/24.

This was okay. I was surprised a sequel was coming and felt the first book closed out perfectly. I do felt that this book was not entertaining in many areas, but other areas was great just like the first book!

I think this just wasn’t for me.

say what you want about these books, but they are FUN.

fun fact, THE LAST MRS PARRISH was one of my favorite thrillers back when it released in 2017. (OMG i feel old now). i was delighted to hear they were making a sequel 7+ years later, i low key loved those toxic characters! their behavior was so shocking and i had my mouth dropped half the book.

fans of TLMP like me will be happy to hear THE NEXT MRS PARRISH gives nearly identical vibes of the toxic characters, cunning/gaslighting vibes and multiple POVs with everyone having secrets and looking out for themselves! it was so much fun being back in their world. the multiple POVs are a blast bc you don’t know who is playing who. and we get introduced to a new character here, Daisy Ann.

i’ll save more for my in depth review, but if you’re looking for a domestic suspense with secrets, backstabbing, conspiring/planning and shocking behaviors, this is for you! it was a really fun binge and i was really enjoying being back in Bishop Harbor.

sometimes the author’s writing style can be hit or miss for me but it was good here. some paragraphs are cringe but i think that’s more bc of the characters and their personalities/actions. also by no means in this review do i wish to glorify the gaslighting or mental/physical abuse in these books. please beware of trigger warnings there.

pro tip—while this story can be read as a standalone and the authors do a good job of reminding you on what happened in book 1 if you forgot, it’ll be a more enjoyable read if you read THE LAST MRS PARRISH first. there’s also a novella THE FIRST SHOT that you can read first but it’s not necessary (i personally didn’t enjoy that one at all).

full review (and maybe a giveaway 😏😏) to come closer to pub day on my IG! thanks to Randomhouse for the early gifted copy.

PS this ends in a way that the story could keep going with a book 3 👀👀👀

PSS im still waiting for more 🎬 news here!! maybe the sequel will give it a push 🤞🏼 it would play out so well on the big screen!

This is a continuation of The Last Mrs. Parrish characters
I would recommend this if you loved those characters and want more of them!
Otherwise, it was just "meh" for me - not great but not terrible either.

The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine is a gripping psychological thriller that kept me hooked until the very end. The novel follows Amber, a woman consumed by envy and a desire for wealth and status, as she meticulously insinuates herself into the life of the wealthy Parrish family.
Lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the final pages.

I had to do a complete re-read of The Last Mrs. Parrish in order to start this sequel. I could not for the life of me remember the twists to the story and how it turned out. That being said, I went back to my original GoodReads review for the first book, and was reminded that I rated it a 2/5 stars. Why, you ask? I couldn't stand Jackson and his conniving, evil ways. His treatment of Daphne was horrific and a real turn-off. That Daphne would then purposely place Amber in harms way after she left Jackson was a big no-no for me - shouldn't women keep other women safe rather than turn them over to a crazy man?

The re-read made me not completely enthusiastic about diving back into these crazy characters, but Liv Constantine sucked me back in the story with this sequel! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an advance copy.

I got the same feeling of can't-put-down-ability from this as from the first Mrs. Parrish novel! If I were to grade a book on how anxious it made me, this would get 5 stars. I was so worked up about Liv Constantine putting Daphne and her children back in danger at the mercy of Jackson I'm still trying to recover. My favorite thing about their books is that I can't see where they're going. I certainly hoped Daphne would escape again and Jackson and Amber would face consequences, but I had no idea how.

Still, this didn't have the freshness of The Last Mrs. Parrish and was more complicated with new characters and crosses and double crosses all over the place. I wasn't immediately sold on the addition of Daisy Ann, a Texas heiress with a (warranted) vendetta against Amber. I spent a lot of the middle worried that this book would undo the greatness of the first one, but it all came together and the ending was a big sigh of relief. I kind of want to read it again knowing what I know now.

Oh my goodness!! This book is brilliant and the ending was fantastic!! This book is a follow up to The Last Mrs. Parrish. I read The Last Mrs. Parrish in 2017 so I did re-read it to make sure I could remember the details. I would suggest you re-read it too if it’s been a while but you don’t have to. They do an excellent job reminding you of who the people are and remind you of little tidbits needed to follow the book. I highly recommend this book if you liked The Last Mrs. Parrish!

Thank you NetGalley, Liv Constantine, and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC!

Another HIT from Liv Constantine! These sisters know how to write a book. Couldn’t put this one down. I loved the addition of Daisy Ann as another strong female character. Amber is such a cunning woman you just love to hate her up to her tricks yet again. The ending wasn’t a total surprise but the build up throughout the book you just weren’t sure where everyone was going to end up. Don’t sleep on this sequel!!

* I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this book. All thoughts are my own.

The Next Mrs. Parrish definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat through most of the book. The beginning is a little on the slow side as the story gets set up. I wish I could have rated this higher but I really, really hated Jackson and I found his manipulative to be pretty frustrating and it hurt to read. I will say I think that is a testament to how good of a writer Constantine is, that she evokes all of these feelings about a fictional character. I was also pleasantly surprised by the ending!

Would recommend!

This book was a wild ride…that I really enjoyed. Liv Constantine’s books have been hit or miss for me, but I did enjoy The Last Mrs. Parrish (despite its controversy). I was excited to see what Jackson, Amber, and Daphne are up to now.

This book picks up about 1.5 – 2 years after the first one ended (I think). Jackson is being released from prison after serving time for his tax evasion crimes. He claims he is a changed man. Amber is still up to her scheming and trying to figure out a way to break out on her own and not rely on anyone else for money. Daphne is navigating “singledom” and trying to repair a damaged relationship with her older daughter. I loved Daphne’s character in The Last Mrs. Parrish, but I found her quite annoying in this one, as she made some really terrible decisions. I know her terrible decisions move the plot along, but it was difficult being a bystander to her awful thought process. We also get introduced to a new character, Daisy Ann, and you’ll have to read to figure out how devious she is and if her character ends up on the “right” side of things.

I think readers who struggled with the message of The Last Mrs. Parrish will find more enjoyment in this one, as I don’t consider it to be nearly as controversial.

Well this was a fun time. I didn’t realize how much I missed these characters, but I was reminded immediately. This was fast paced and so entertaining with Liv Constantine’s signature twists putting in work! Grab your popcorn and get ready to devour this in one setting.

I was so happy to get this ARC of The Next Mrs Parrish. I really enjoyed the previous book and it was great to have a sequel to it!

The book picks up where it left off. You get to see how Daphne is doing out in California with her two girls.

Jackson is still in prison for tax evasion and Amber is living in the mansion with baby Jax. Amber is up to get old scheming and once Jackson gets out of prison they strike a bargain where Jackson will help Amber get something she wants if she helps him get something he wants, which is to get Daphne back!

Jackson hasn't changed a bit and Amber is just plain evil. Daphne has to contend with these two creeps again! This book was good and kept me turning the pages. I did get a little tired of all the escape attempts but I enjoyed the parts about Daisy Ann trying to avenge her father's killing. There is a little too much double crossing especially the big one with Daisy Ann. I didn't really think that was believable.

Overall a good read. I would recommend to fans of The Last Mrs Parrish.

I was really looking forward to this book as I read the first one a few years ago in book club and remembered loving it. The vibe was similar to The Girl On The Train and Gone Girl; sharp writing and a twist. This sequel doesn't feel like it was necessary. It will be a fun beach read for those who like weekly tv procedurals or Lifetime movies. I think I'm not the right audience because it seemed very melodramatic. I think some of the plot points were convenient and not realistic. The book had multiple endings. As a therapist I not only hate the way therapists in the book were portrayed but think that Daphnes arc and actions are completely unrealistic .2.5 stars

You still have time! Pick up the first book, The Last Mrs. Parrish, before the sequel comes out on June 18th! The story picks up right where the first one left off.

Daphne is the first wife whose husband left her for Amber, a calculated, manipulative second wife. You know the type. Their story collides again as the kids bring the family back together as Amber is living her best life, while husband Jackson is in prison and Daphne has moved on, building her and the kids life from the one they fled.

Much like the first book, it is a fun game of cat and mouse, trying to figure out who is being played and who is controlling the puppet strings.
Constantine has the reader on the edge of their seats trying to figure out the next steps and who holds the upper hand.

I enjoyed this immenesly! Thank you to Net Galley and Random House for the opportunity to review an advance reader copy.

This is an excellent sequel to The Next Mrs. Parrish. Great twists and turns in the writing. Just when you think you can't despise someone more they do something even more despicable.

Another great psychological thriller by Liv Constantine. Thank you to Bantam and NetGalley for the ARC for my honest review. Highly recommend!

Loved this book and the series! Filled with familiar characters with new plot twists. I always wish for more after finishing a Liv Constantine book and this was no different. Looking forward to more!

Unfortunately I did not care for this book. Instead of a thriller/psychological thriller/suspense, whatever it's supposed to be, to me it read like a straight up soap opera. And it moved so slowly. I really enjoyed Liv Constantine's first book, The Last Mrs. Parrish so I was expecting gread things from this one. But it just wasn't for me.

Another hit from Liv Constantine! I love their work and this title is added to the great Mrs Parrish storyline. I highly recommend if you like their debut hit!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. this was fast paced and fun, if slightly predictable. I enjoyed this but had quite a bit of time before this and the first so forgot some elements. I still would recommend,

Luv Constantine is an avid writer that includes all the twists, turns, laughs and so much more to grasp the reader's attention from page 1. I especially enjoyed this sequel as much as the debut title. Not sure what hitch one I liked better! Definitely recommend!!
