A story about Ali. On her 7th birthday she gets to go to the animal shelter with her parents and pick a kitten since she is now old enough to take care of a pet. There are many kittens in the cat room but Ali doesn’t find the right one. When she sees the cross-eyed kitten, she falls in love with him. Nobody wants him as he is different, not pretty, not perfect but Ali loves him and he loves her back.
What a beautiful book for young children (and adults) about love and compassion. Each page has colored illustrations that go along with the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy for my honest review.

I loved everything about The Cross-Eyed Kitten by Judith M. Ackerman the story, the writing, the illustrations and especially the message of compassion and empathy. I have read this to my nephew who loved it and wanted his very own cross-eyed kitten.

Super cute story about a girl getting to adopt a kitten on her birthday.

The illustrations were so life like.
I wasn't a big fan of the faces, but that's just a preference, they were really well drawn.

Book will be featured in a future youtube video.

This is such a wonderfully cute book which teaches kids about compassion and being nice to others regardless of how they look. I thought it would be a bit longer but half of the pages were full pictures and I'm sure children would love it as a bedtime story.

What a wonderful picture book about acceptance and love. Little Ali is only seven years old, but she already knows compassion and kindness.

The illustrations are a little old-fashioned, but they work well with the story.

This book was a lot shorter then I thought it would be but overall I enjoyed it. The book was really good and I like that the girl chose the cross eyed kitten instead of a normal one.

The cover is just so cute and endearing that I had to pick this book up. The concept is heartwarming, albeit rather common: a little girl wants a kitten for her birthday. The twist that pulls at your heart's strings is the fact that it is a special needs kitten. The idea is nice and fluffy, and some illustrations are adorable, but overall, the aesthetics and style are rough and raw, and it could really use some polishing to make it smoother and more put together. (I put a score of four stars, it's more of an in-between three and four). With some proper professional editing, it could be an even better book.

This book screams, self-published. First, the story is too long. It feels more like a spoken wood story than a written story. The illustrations are nice, but the art style and the color make it feel dated. Like I’ve picked up a book from my childhood that is ready to be recycled. The other issues I have with this book is how easy it makes tt seem to adopt a kitten form a humane society. Anyone who has tried to adopt knows there are rules and budget constraints, home visits, and various hoops to jump through to adopt animals. This isn’t the case at all shelters, but at many, especially if one wants to adopt special needs animal. The seven-year-old birthday girl adopts a cat that’s cross eyed, and most shelters would be very strict on who can adopt a special-needs animal. A kid getting their first pet is not normally someone who gets to do that. So for this book I think is a leave it on the shelf, leave it at the store. There are better done and more accurate books on pet adoption and children.

What a sweet book this is! I loved it as I have adopted cats from shelters and the story touched my heart. Both children and adults will love this heartwarming tale and its characters. It's precious and adorable!
Thank you to the author and publisher for a copy of this arc.

I really enjoyed this book. It was different than anything else I've read recently. I couldn't put it down! I will keep an eye out for this author's future work!

A nice story about empathy and inclusion with sweet illustrations. I also liked that the book promoted adopting rather than buying pets.

Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

The story and morale of this book was a little heavy-handed. Overall, the message of the book is "show kindness". Which a lot of picture children's books have managed to show in more interesting ways than this one.
I also didn't care much for the art style, but that is a personal choice. Overall, wouldn't be my first choice when buying my children a kid's book.

The Cross-Eyed Kitten was a very heartwarming story. As a cat lover with three rescues from my local Humane Society, I knew I would love the message in this book. I didn't love the art style, but did enjoy the illustrations of the animals.

I received this book from BooksGoSocial via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is such a sweet book about a little girl who gets to choose a kitten from the humane society for her birthday. There are lots of children there looking at the kittens and there are so many to choose from, she doesn't know how she will pick one, Then she notices some children making fun of one of the kittens whose eyes are crossed. She decides to look at this kitten and falls in love.

I love the illustrations in this book - they are beautiful. The story is just a sweet tale with the lesson that it's OK to be different and sometimes being different is the best thing.

It’s Ali’s 7th birthday and it’s finally the day she is allowed to have a pet. All she wanted for her birthday is a kitten! She’s extremely excited! Ali and her parents went to humane society to finally choose a kitten. Ali look at all the kittens and held them but nothing seems to be the perfect kitten for her until she found the cross-eyed kitten and Ali fell in love.

I love what Ali said when she told her parents the reason why she wanted the kitten. At such a young age, she learn some deeper things in life which is truly heartfelt. I love that the book talks about kindness, empathy, and embracing differences.

The drawings are also very detailed. I can even see clearly the fur of the kittens and it’s fascinating.

Overall this is such a good read. I would recommend it!

2/5 Stars! Thank you, NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this eARC of The Cross-Eyed Kitten by Judith M. Ackerman.

I can't say that my boys and I enjoyed this very much. It is a cute read but the illustrations were a little weird. The storyline was adorable but it wasn't focused on the kitten as much as I thought the title was. I might be the outlier in this review because I actually have a child that is cross-eyed and it honestly just makes me sad - especially about the part of kids making fun of the kitten. Cute story but just not for me.

It’s Ali’s seventh birthday and her parents promised a kitten for a present. They went to the Humane Society. This story teaches about being different and unconditional love. Sweet, wholesome story. I received a free advance review copy, and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

The Cross-Eyed Kitten by Judith M. Ackerman is about a little girl who is allowed to adopt a kitten on her 7th birthday. She sees boys making fun of a kitten who is cross-eyed and decides that is the kitten she wants. I liked the story but I would have liked just a little more explanation on how we can apply this lesson in love to our lives with other people. The illustrations were pretty bland and honestly a little creepy at some times. I'm sure littles would enjoy it, but as a parent it was a no for me.

Hello! :) Thank you very much to Netgalley for the ARC of this book. The Cross-eyed Kitten is one of the cutest books I have ever read. The story of the small kitten who found a home and of the birthday girl who poured her heart out and love for this kitten is just lovely. And the illustrations...oh my! These take my breath away. They are so life-like and so beautiful. The animals and their faces are super cute. I want to reach out and pet each animal and look into their eyes and take them all home. But most of all, I want to take home the cross-eyed Kitten. Or rather, the little kitten. The message in this book is one from which we all can learn. The sweet kitten must have been super excited to be the one picked, and, as short as this story was, it packs a powerful imagery and memory. I love this book and definitely recommend it. Thank you! :)
