Shown to me as a sampler of a series of six, this suggests the others are of fine enough quality to get a recommendation for American school libraries. This is a perfectly inoffensive, easy beginner to the SW, telling us a tiny bit about what we can find, eat and speak in the states in that corner of the country. Nothing will test the audience (of, I'd guess, under-sixes), and the photography is fine alongside the easily-understood little snippets of text. Probably not one to travel to other countries, this is still doing what it needs, and still getting four stars for it.

The book offers some good information about this region of the States. Could be an interesting purchase for children who either living in that area or are about to go there for travel, relocations etc.
I did find the rythm of the way information was delievered quite boring. Text-picture- text-picture... It soon became a pretty boring format and it could easily have been spiced up a little to make it less monotenous.
The art style was great and I liked the inclusion of actual photos of the places the book was talking about.

This is an introductory book with pictures on southwest part of America. Author gave brief snap on how those places are and what were the historical facts of those places. Rocky mountains, rivers and varieties of cultural influences under different leaderships. There were national forests and grasslands. There was spanish invasion and independence from the same also.
Overall, it is a good picture book but I believe somewhere it lacks so much on the details. However, it was meant to be summarized this way only and I liked it. But for fun one thing I never get it for why horse riders in texas called cowboys not horseboys. Lol.
For me it is 4.5/5.0

After moving to Colorado and having not grown up in this country I loved learning so much about the South west. My kids enjoyed flicking through this book with me too.

I Recieved this as an ARC for my honest review.

My 6 and 4 year olds really enjoyed looking through this book. It's a short book but informative for young readers interested in the southwest region. Both the pictures and brief descriptions keep readers engaged.

I recommend this for schools and libraries as it is a very clear and well-organized look at the southwest United States. It briefly touches on historical native cultures, a brief overview of the states that make up the Southwest region. It also discusses the influence of Spanish missionaries and the strong influence they have had, on both language, culture, and food.

The bright, clear photographs are a great way to learn about the southwest, and I know students will enjoy reading this book.

It must have been so hard when preparing this book deciding what to include. The writer did a fantastic job with this, highlighting some beautiful and important parts of the American Southwest. The US really has a lot to offer, and even this small sampling made me wish I could go travel right now. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
