Want to read a gripping thriller set primarily in New Orleans against the backdrop of a Category 5 hurricane? Look no further than Logan Ryles' Storm Surge. Our hero is Mason Sharpe, an Army veteran who is taking refuge in a motel in Mobile, Alabama. During his stay, Mason meets a mother (Jessica) and daughter (Autumn), and they become friendly. However, Autumn vanishes just as the hurricane is ready to strike land. Jessica feels Autumn's father, Randy, has taken her and seeks Mason's help. Mason learns that Randy is a member of a gang, and that the group intends to steal the city following the hurricane. The book was excellent, the action was non-stop, and the main character Mason just doesn't Stop until the mission is completed. His character is well-written, and I enjoy the back and forth between his history and present. The writing of the storm was quite descriptive. In reality, each description was precise. I don't typically read this type of book, but I'm glad I took a chance on this one!. This book is actually book 6 of the series I didn’t know this. But I would go back and read the first five books too. Thanks NetGalley for book in exchange for review.

I hate not starting series at the beginning but this synopsis was so interesting to me that I opted to do so and I am glad I did. I am always fascinated by storms and this one had a big one. Add in Mason’s need to rescue Autumn through this vicious storm and it is a never-ending thrill ride. The writing flowed well and was easy to follow. The action was non-stop and I was exhausted for Mason as he went through the book – it’s way too much for the average person! Highly recommended as a standalone but I will be going back to read the rest of the series.

Want to read a suspenseful thriller set mostly in New Orleans within the backdrop of a Category 5 Hurricane? Look no further than Storm Surge by Logan Ryles. Our hero is Mason Sharpe, an Army Veteran, who is sheltering in a motel in Mobile, Alabama. Mason meets a mother (Jessica) and daughter (Autumn) while staying there and they become friendly. However, Autumn vanishes right as the hurricane is about to hit land. Jessica believes Autumn’s father Randy has kidnapped her, and she asks Mason for help. Mason finds out that Randy is in a gang and this gang has a plan to go looting in the city after the hurricane.

The book was great, the action was non-stop, and the main character Mason just won’t stop until the mission is accomplished. His character is written well and I like the back and forth with his past and his present. The writing regarding the storm was very descriptive. In fact, all the descriptions were precise. I don’t usually read this type of book, but I’m glad I took a chance on this one!

Mason Sharpe returns in a fast paced ,explosive thriller. Plenty of action and some heartwarming moments as Mason tries to outrun hurricane Nadia.

A kidnapping and a hurricane makes for a explosion of a page turner. I had to make myself slow down a few times because it is so fast paced that I was eager to read ahead. Get ready for a ride that you won't forget.

This book brought out every small details very gracefully. I liked the to and fro shift between the present and Mason's training and Afghanistan crisis scenarios. I was impressed by autumn and her smartness. Frank was the superhero, without whom the story might have been incomplete. A huge salute to the army veteran! The book very truthfully and realistically brought out the damage the storm Nadia had created. The writing style was great!
However, I found some inconsistencies with the book. The moment autumn was kidnapped again, I felt like it was just to increase the length of the book. Mason's luck at times would seem to do wonders, and other times it would look as if it's not his hour of the day. Mason, as per my opinion, has a syndrome of helping everyone out, even if the help is already there! The last shooting scene - even though there were guards deployed, this young man joined them to attack randy and his men, instead of considering the shootout as a distraction and to go look for autumn.
The ending, surprisingly, was emotional. The reunion of autumn and Jessica brought warmth to my heart. Overall, it was a moderate read for me.

Another fantastic addition to the Mason Sharpe series, this one set immediately before, during and after the arrival of a devasting hurricane. With a disabled girl kidnapped, Sharpe does what he does best - tracking down the bad guys and saving the day.

This is a very fast-paced novel, with the tension palpable, sometimes down to the destructive weather Sharpe has to contend with, sometimes down to the seemingly unfavourable odds against the enemy. The characters are, as always engaging, and the bond between Sharpe and the Autumn really works. We're also taken on Sharpe's own personal journey following a tragic event from his past and how he continues to deal with that.

This wasn't my favourite book in the series and I can't quite put my finger on what was missing but rest assured this is still a superb thriller with plenty at stake and lots of action. A great read!

This thriller was so good! I totally finished this in one day! Mason Sharp kept me intrigued the entire time while reading this book. I can’t really recall slow times, this book jumped from the beginning. Dealing with a hurricane coming into Louisiana, Mason is taking shelter in Alabama and makes friends with Jessica and ten year old Autumn. This is where the story picks up and definitely takes off. Thank you Netgalley for this read!

I rarely give one star reviews, because most books I get are readable and may be entertaining for some people. This book, however, is based on so much nonsense and stupidity that it's better not reading it.
Most important: If you go into a disaster zone, you risk not only your own life, but the lives of people that may try to rescue you. And please learn CPR from people who know what they are doing.

Mason Sharpe is at it again. The ex-Army, ex-cop is still fighting his own demons while he fights others on behalf of those who can’t. As another hurricane approaches, the daughter of his friend is abducted by her father and taken to New Orleans which is right in the path of the storm. With a variety of sub-plots along the way, he makes friends and enemies who add to the drama and affect the exciting climax.

I enjoyed this thriller. I felt that the Mason was a captivating main character, making the book enjoyable to read. There were not many slow moments in the book and that made it easy to read and enjoy! I appreciate how the beginning of the book was able to captivate me and kept me reading.

As a massive hurricane rolls toward the Louisiana coast, Army veteran Mason Sharpe is sheltering in Mobile, Alabama. There he meets Jessica and her gifted ten-year-old daughter, Autumn, who are fleeing a different kind of storm, an abusive husband and father with violent tendencies. When Autumn disappears just as the hurricane is about to make landfall, Jessica is certain that Autumn’s deadbeat dad Randy has taken her. She turns to Mason for help! That's where the craziness begins! This book was like an action movie! It had suspense, intrigue, action packed, big shoot outs, high speed chases, and some wild scenes for sure! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

This time out, Mason Sharpe sets his sights on rescue. A wheelchair-bound genius is kidnapped and Mason heads into a hellish environment with his mind focused on that. But what he finds on the way leads him on a further quest to save countless lives from the depredations of a ruthless foe.

More of the good stuff here. A must read for any adventure thriller or exciting fiction reader.
