What a cute book! Squirrel is such a character and bird is there to teach him the ropes. In this installment squirrel learns about snow and other winter weather fun. Adorable banter between the 2 animals. And a bonus section that answers the why of squirrels questions. Definitely a fun and engaging books for your littles.

An adorable tale about a squirrel's first time in the snow. This is my second read from this series, and I will definitely be reading the rest! The illustrations are perfect and the story is simple.

This was a cute book about a squirrel experiencing snow for the first time. There were lots of funny moments, I would definitely recommend this one!

This is another great book in the series. It follows the same concept as our family favorite, The Leaf Thief, and weaves in more education on winter. I was especially thrilled to see the pages on squirrel’s “breath smoke” as my own six year old had asked me about his this past winter! It’s very relevant to grade schoolers and a fantastic read. My six year old read it to me and said he liked it.

I received this through NetGalley for a fair review so here it is. The snow thief was Super cute, sweet, and fun. You follow squirrel who is an on edge squirrel and bird who is friends and teaches his pal squirrel on things that’s happening around them. Bird and squirrel go on a winter adventure in this particular story, teaching squirrel about fun things that happen in the winter time.
Squirrel and bird are lovely characters that play well off each other, like Bert and Ernie. I love how chaotic squirrel is and how chill bird is. The illustrations are bright and vibrant and grab your attention but also simple and direct. They stay true to the text. The snow thief is a very short but to the point story, a child with a beginners reading would be able to follow along. I am not new to this author seeing as I have read the leaf thief which is yet another bird and squirrel story in autumn. I truly cannot wait to see more from bird and squirrel.

Such a cute read for my kids (5 and 2). Both of them were big belly laughing at squirrel and his excitement for snow. As Michiganders they both related to all of squirrels emotions with the snow. I also thought the illustrations were beautifully done.

Summary: Squirrel is amazed by winter. Everything is new. What is this cold wet stuff? Has someone stolen his acorns? What is going on?

Good thing he has Bird to explain everything to him.

My Thoughts: Well, this is definitely the cutest squirrel I have ever seen. The art is quite adorable in this book, and there are plenty of fun details to explore in the pictures.

The storyline? Eh…..not my favorite. It is probably just personal preference, but Squirrel is a little too hyper, and kind of annoying.

I probably would read this one time to a child, but it wouldn’t be one I would re-read.

My son loved this story. He thought the squirrel was amazing and silly, and loved screaming "BIRD!" every time he saw it in the book.
We are from a state that often has snow, so he thought it was extra funny that the squirrel was extra funny.
Overall, a cute little story about playing in the snow and the seasons changing.

This was such a cute picture book that I will be purchasing a copy for myself as well as for my library. The children will love it as much as I did!

A delightful tale about a squirrel and a bird discussing snow. Squirrel is surprised when he woke up and the grass was gone and the ground was white. The bird explained that it was snow. Then threw a snow ball into his house. Then squirrel liked the snow and wanted to catch snowflakes. Then he finds ice and goes Splat! The next day squirrel can't wait to play in the snow again, but when he goes out the snow is gone.
This story has questions in the back of the book to help explain some of the elements of this story.

Back again with an adorable story, squirrel brings humor and excitement to a snowy day. Love the seasonal aspect of these and the silly little inability to find his hazelnuts…

This was another fun addition to the Squirrel & Bird picture books - this time exploring winter! The Leaf Thief has been a hit at past fall storytimes at my library, so I was excited to read this new entry to the series. As with the previous books, the seasons are changing and it is confusing poor Squirrel! Overall a cute and engaging read with beautiful illustrations. I also love the additional material in the back of the book.

Such a fun book! Totally embodies children and their endless questions about things. It lets the reader along with squirrel, experience winter for the first time. The illustrations are adorable. I can totally see myself reading this with fun voices to my children

I was thrilled to receive a copy of this adorable book by Alice Hemming! I loved both the Leaf Thief and the Flower Thief and have enjoyed reading them to my special education students and my kindergarten daughter! The Snow Thief is definitely my favorite out of the trio too!

In this book, Squirrel once again bombards his friend Bird with so many questions, this time about snow. The playful banter back and forth between the characters is entertaining and engaging for kids. I love that the book wraps up with factual information that answers all of squirrels questions with scientific facts.

The Snow Thief was an absolute delight. Both of my boys loved the story, and I enjoyed how informative it was while still being fun. This is the second book in this collection that we’ve read, so we were familiar with the story format. I appreciate the simple and repetitive structure for the little ones just starting out learning to read. Additionally, the illustrations are absolutely adorable and definitely helped keep the kids interested. I highly recommend picking up this book for the kiddos in your life.

This was a fun book to read with my four year old son. He thought the squirrel was so silly. I enjoyed the section at the end of the book that discussed squirrel’s questions from throughout the book. It provided a great opportunity to discuss squirrels feelings with my son. The illustrations are fun and engaging! Definitely a fun book to read during the wintertime!

The graphics and the story were simply adorable! I also love that there are descriptions at the back of the book that stimulate young minds.
