This was the perfect follow up to the Queen of Roses. Ms. Boleyn did not suffer from any sophomore slumps in the series. The book moved a decent clip and I found myself wishing I could slow down .

This book is action packed. I feel again a bit trope-y in parts, but I didn't mind. I liked the tournament set-up. I do not like how uncommunicative the MMC was to the FMC (yes, I realize that's what makes conflicts in stories, but let's be adults once in a while)...which caused the big change at the end of the book. I don't think Morgan was outlandish wanting to know what was going on & any scrap of backstory...about pretty much anything. I'm glad she didn't say those three words as I don't think it was warranted. I appreciate decent side characters as they helped the plot along. I look forward to Morgan getting to know more about her "true" past. Thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for the ARC opportunity.

I finished the first book in the series day before yesterday, and loved it so much I started this one yesterday morning and stayed up well into the night last night to finish it.
The first book blew me away, and then the second book didn't disappoint either. I loved all the new twists and turns in this one. I love that every time I get used to the idea of a twist that's happened, a few min later another twist occurs. I'm so excited to start the third book today and see what happens next in the story.

Court of Claws - by Briar Boleyn

I ate this up! The second installment of the 'Blood of a Fae' book series. I enjoyed how the story progresses, the world building increases wonderfully and the characters develop. A strong storyline while Morgan explores her powers and processes her feelings. The spice is delicious but not over-done, and that ending left me reeling.

Reader warning: trigger warning, but there is a helpful list at the back of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wow I thought the first book was great, it has nothing on the sequel! Absolutely amazing!
Thank you Netgalley, Briar Boleyn, and Starwater Press for allowing me to ARC. <3

4 1/2 ⭐️

What the heck?? That final chapter 😱 was definitely a twist I did NOT see coming! But…I am oh so happy!

I loved this book! Those trials, omg, kept me in the edge of my seat! They were written in such a descriptive way, that I felt like I was sitting right there in the gallery right alongside Morgan. I am so ecstatic that a certain character got what was coming to them! Pure evil!!

Aww, the way Morgan and Draven’s relationship grew and blossomed, made my heart very happy. I was elated to see Morgan finally give into the lust! I was shocked to learn what Draven had done to save Morgan, but realized, in hindsight, I should have realized! I missed a huge Easter egg there. Needless to say, with Morgan’s strong will, I wasn’t surprised at her reaction in the least.

I can only imagine the peril they are both going to endure in the next book. I am quite sure there are more secrets and twists to come.

I am still really enjoying this series and the way she portrayed all the characters. Arthurian legend is one of my favorites! And this series has been no disappointment! I’m looking forward to getting through Empress of Fae!

Thank you NetGallet and Briar Boleyn for the opportunity to read this!

This is the second book in Briar Boleyn’s ‘Blood Of A Fae’ series. Book 2 picked up right where we were left, hanging on a metaphorical cliff after book 1. Only our FMC wakes to find she’s in a whole new continent, and surrounded by an entirely new court. One far from anything she could have ever predicted. This story was fast paced, actioned packed, brutal, and had just the right amount of angst and spice. The world building was amazing, and once again the visualization of the text was so vivid in my minds eye. A true testament to the authors skill.

In this book we learn Dravens backstory, and our FMC Morgan does in deed shows some growth. I will say her character still managed to annoy me at times. Girls still a little naïve, and a whole lotta pissed off, but under the circumstances I’m giving her a pass. We meet a whole new cast of characters in this book and they did not disappoint.

This book was definitely giving ACOTAR and hunger games vibes. I was definitely not mad at it. I drank this story up and finished it in a day. We get forced proximity, one bed, enemies to lovers, found family, deadly trials, twisty turns…more battle cats, and a bearkin. Enough said. This story was an absolute ride, and the ending left off on such a wildly unexpected “oh, shit!” cliffhanger. I didn’t even pause before I opened up the 3rd book. Then had to stop myself to make sure I got this review in to make sure I didn’t accidentally meld the two books together.

Special Thanks to @netgalley, @saltwaterpress, and @briarboleyn for the e-copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Rushed straight to read this after the first and I'm happy to say the second book was even better.
Book #2 starts straight after Book #1, and it does not disappoint.

The world building continued and weaved the threads of the kingdoms together. The found family are beautifully written and enthralling. The descriptive imagery makes Eskira and Siabra (especially) so easy to visualise and long to visit.

The plot trotted along nicely and I found it hard to put down, every time I finished a chapter I wanted just 1 more
I really don't want to spoil it for anyone, but if you liked ACOTAR, The Hunger Games, Fourth Wing, you will devour this series; and yes I started Book #3 as soon as I finished this one, with that cliffhanger it was impossible not to.

Thank you to Briar and Netgalley for the ARC.

Queen of Roses left me yearning for more of the fantastical world that Briar Boleyn has created, so I couldn't wait to start the follow-up to the first book in her Camelot-inspired series. The stakes are so deliciously high in Court of Claws that I am very thankful to not be a literal nail-biter. This book kept me up at night!! Thank goodness I have the next book on standby.

I am absolutely loving this series!!

With this instalment, I really enjoyed meeting the new characters, and travelling to Draven's Court... I found it more exciting than the first, particularly due to the trials taking place throughout.

As with the first book, there were some unexpected surprises - I like to think I'm good at predicting what will happen but these keep me on my toes!!

Excited to jump into book 3!!

New Dark Adventure 🌙

This book was a whole new magical and darker adventure! Briar took everything you learned in QOR and made 90% of it irrelevant. Draven and Morgan are on a whole new continent, surrounded by new characters, darker magic and foes, more obstacles to overcome, secrets to uncover, and a gorey blood trial.

I enjoyed the fast paced plot that had me on the edge my of seat the whole time. Some twists were fairly obvious others had me shocked, but the whole plot was a wild ride. Briar continued to flawlessly feed more information into the forever growing plot while adding the brutal action packed blood trials and new characters to keep you engaged.

I really enjoyed learning more about Draven's Kingdom, the dark politics, and his heartbreaking history. The book also gives more background on the Valtain and Morgan, who has a lot of character growth from the last book. She continues to be stubborn and predictable, but after being kidnapped and swept away from her home during war I can justify a large amount of her poor attitude.

Draven is giving “touch her and you die” while Morgan is giving “I hate you BUT want you” vibes. The second these two come together, the whole world stood still for a moment ❤️ The spice is minimal, but the lust these two have for one another builds the perfect slow burn.

New characters were introduced—Beks instantly stole my heart. Odessa and Crescent are the perfect black cat and golden retriever siblings, Odessa’s blunt attitude and Crescent’s loose tongue made for the best scenes. Lyrastra and Javer are hard for me to read, but I enjoyed their characters as well. Briar did a good job of making all side characters stand out.

The ending gave me whiplash, but left me picking up the third book immediately. Thank you Briar Boleyn, Starwater Press, & NetGalley for the opportunity to read Court of Claws.

♡ Arthurian Retelling
♡ Enemies to Lovers
♡ Forced Proximity
♡ Fake Dating

Court of Claws is the second book of the Blood of a Fae series. This dark fantasy romance starts off exactly where Queen of Roses ended. Kairos Draven saved Morgan Pendragon's life and brought her to his home, the court of the Siabra. The moment Morgan awakens, she discovers that the Siabra nobles are not friendly. To keep her safe, Draven lies about his and Morgan's relationship. Throughout the story, both Draven and Morgan must fight for their lives.

This book was dark, thrilling, tense, adventurous, and spicy. As we follow Morgan, we get a deeper understanding of Draven's character; who is he, his history, his friends, and his family. As Morgan's feelings grow for Draven, their chemistry becomes more and more addicting. The side characters were diverse and complex. I didn't expect to love Lyrastra at the beginning of the book, but she became one of my favorite characters. The world-building was so well written and detailed. It was an amazing book. Next up, Empress of Fae.

Thank you, Briar Boleyn and NetGalley, for the copy of the Court of Claws in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely loved the world building and the characters! I really loved the mixture of myth and legend with a twist! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Woof. Morgan, no. That's all I can say. Could not wrap my head around her decisions nor her constant aggression against any minor incident. Really pulled me out of the story as I just kept being so frustrated.

Thank you Netgalley for an ecopy for review.

After being unknowingly saved by Kairos, Morgan is now trapped in a strange land where she is surrounded by people who want her killed because of her heritage. She is confused between her anger and loss of her potential lover. Draven continues to protect Morgan and have forced proximity that starts to provide more confusion to Morgan. As more secrets are unfolded, past actions cause more strife between the two as their love starts to bloom. Meanwhile, they need to learn to harness the power of the Holy Grail. This book has a fairly quick pace, great for new adults. Ends in a cliffhanger.

I'm a bit confused. I absolutely loved book 1 because the retelling of the King Arthur & Merlin story in to that of fae fantasy was very interesting. The adventure and magical component and character development that happened in book 1, though, seems almost like a totally different book series.

Thrown in to the Siabra realm/court, this book takes Morgan on a very stationary adventure. I understand the context of the book was probably to develop the relationship between Morgan and Draven, BUT I still felt like this was totally disconnected from the previous storyline from Book 1.

I'm on to Book 3 now, so keeping this review quite short to see if the storyline picks back up!

Oh no.

After an entertaining first book in this series, I'm sad to say that this installment had so many issues that I'm stopping at this one. From an immature, obnoxious FMC to the dreaded miscommunication trope, to everyone keeping secrets and a lot (A LOT) of filler, it was tough to get through Court of Claws.

If you take out the endless descriptions of every single thing, the overuse of the word "fuck," and every scene of Morgan being unnecessarily annoying from beginning to end, I think you could fit the remaining twenty pages into books 3 and 4 of the series. I won't find out because I'm not reading them, though.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't mind the use of swear words - I am an enthusiastic connoisseur and user of swear words, but when it's done so repetitively, it loses its impact.

Draven also suffers a downgrade because he becomes manipulative and keeps things from Morgan, although he's still trying to help her.

It's too bad because I really wanted to follow this take on the Arthurian legend, but an irritating FMC and a meh MMC, not to mention the inclusion of so many tropes that have been done with much more finesse elsewhere, resulted in me not really caring what happens to these two.

The story starts where the first book ended. So you really need to read the first book of this series.
Morgan survived what happened to her and now is in Draven´s country. She learn she is with the Siabra, what they are and what plague they brought above the fae.
Also it is revealed who Draven is. As if this would not be enough Morgan is learning more about her past as well as her feelings for Draven are changing. Can she really trust him, even so he is still keeping things from her and delaying her return to Camelot?

I really enjoyed the second book of this series and that we are learning here so much about Draven, his past and his story. Also what we now learn about Morgan, her past and her magic is really interesting and well written. I like how she is changing here, learning to trust herself again after what happened all in the first book but also to stand up for herself.
Most of all I really like how the relationship between Draven and Morgan is changing here and how this is written. I really like it and for me it has the perfect tone for these two characters.
Also that new enemies appear and what battles they need to fight here is well done.
This book is showing a story line which so far was not part of the King Arthur theme but I really like it to learn more about the fae, Excalibur and the grail and most of all see how Morgan is changing from the girl she was in the first book to a woman who stands in for her friends, family and her believes as well as learning about her magic which she so long suppressed her power.
Also here the book ends with a thrilling epilogue so I really want to dive right into the 3rd book of this series.

In this second book of the series, we start right where book 1 ended. Morgan finds herself in a new kingdom and continent amongst a different type of fae. She meets new characters, learns more about the world, herself, and her magic. She finds herself immersed in a political game of sorts as she supports Draven in his quest for the crown.
I enjoyed this book more than book one, I think I liked getting to know the world more and figuring out the characters. I do get frustrated with Morgan as she repeats the same mistakes and quick judgements repetitively. This book also ends in a cliffhanger and I am definitely going to continue the series!

My review will be on Goodreads
