I really enjoyed this book. Clive Cussler meets the Davinci Code with a billionaire genius female lead and a sexy, social media star male lead adventurer and a wise sage sidekick.

I am so glad this is a series, I can't wait for the next installment to see what Avery & Carter get up to with their taciturn detective in tow! This was a fun read and my 1st by LynDee Walker & Bruce Robert Coffin..and will not be my last!

In the book The General's Gold, authors LynDee Walker and Bruce Robert Coffin follows billionaire Avery Turner as she investigates the suspected overdose death of her former business partner Mark Hawkins. But Turner does not believe it and teams up with deep-sea shipwreck diver and adrenaline junkie Carter Mosley to find out the truth. In the process they discover a mysterious story that Hawkins was investigating about The General's Gold that was lost. But will the truth end up in their deaths? And who else is looking for The General's Gold? This was a great fast-paced book and I look forward to more in the series. I would recommend this book. The audio-book narration was very good. I received a copy of this audio-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The General's Gold is an exciting, fast-paced adventure much in the vein of the Indiana Jones or National Treasure movie franchises. The story ties several generations and timelines together. There is a trio of likeable protagonists trying to solve the mysterious death of one's friend. They are challenged by multiple villains. Add to this a smart and knowledgeable museum worker—who has a crush on one of the adventurous team members and is depended upon to answer the team's historical questions—and some spunky old folks—(almost) all cousins who wear a variety of hats in a pivotal town along the way—and you have uninterrupted fun.

Several times as I was reading, I felt the need to yell at one or another character as they were about to do something stupid, much like one might do when watching television or film.

Narration by Alan Carlson was excellent for most male characters; less so for some female characters.

As much as possible, I like to read without preconceived notions. Therefore, I limit how much I learn about a book before reading. In this case, that habit led to a few surprises. Contrary to the publisher's blurb, Mark's quest for the General's Gold isn't revealed until almost a third of the way through the book. Too, after I finished reading and considered the summary more carefully, I realized that Harrison/Harry isn't considered one of the main adventurers. I thought Carter was the add-on or third wheel—not Harry. I'll be interested to see how the characters develop as the series progresses. If I had checked the book's Goodreads entry before starting, I would have known that this is the first installment in a planned series. Instead, the epilogue tipped me off. I'm there for at least the second installment.

This is a welcome new series reminiscent of some of Baldacci's and Clive Cussler's earlier series, with a touch of Steve Berry. I enjoyed meeting Avery Turner, newly minted billionaire following the sale of her app; Harrison, former homicide detective who is now employed by Avery; and Carter Mosley, deep sea shipwreck diver whose social media following would make the Kardashians jealous. Although Harrison has police training, none of them seems to be particularly skilled in self-defense, but all of them are smart, fit, and resourceful. Each character is both likeable and interesting in her or his own right and together they make a great team. The mystery involves an overdose that might be a murder and a possible treasure that may date back to the American Revolutionary War. Clearly, nothing is clear or certain, and all of them, Harrison included, are about to get some OJT in investigating. There is a definite learning curve, not to mention a lot of trial and error, emphasis on the error, but I cannot wait to see what this trio gets up to next.

Alan Carlson does a great job voicing these characters and helping bring them to life.

Story starts with Turner and Mosley are in the Florida Keys on a deep dive. Carter Mosley - is a deep-sea shipwreck diver also an ‘Instagram’ Star. He has been trying to get Avery Turner to try deep-sea diving. She finally does and just loves it. However, when they get back on the boat there is a call for Avery from a Boston detective telling her that her number was found with a man named Mark Hawkins who is dead. Avery is in shock; Mark is a dear friend in fact, Avery has secretly been in love with him.
Avery is a billionaire computer genius, her mother was a homicide detective and her partner was Harrison. Her mother was in an accident as was Harrison; however, he now is Avery’s right-hand man. She tells Harrison to order her private jet for a trip to Boston.

Mark Hawkins apparently died of an overdose. Avery knows that isn’t true. Mark never did drugs. .
Avery and Harrison are out to find the truth. Avery soon believes that Mark knew his life was in danger. He hid a series of clues that would lead to the solving the mystery surrounding the General's Gold.
The first half of the book had me a bit confused why this series is called “The Turner and Mosley Files” as Carter Mosley wasn’t in this part.

Soon their adventure includes Carter as they travel from Boston, to Maine, then from the mountains of Virginia to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean and face nasty gangs, man-eating sharks,
Story turned out better than expected. I do judge a book by its cover and I was not impressed by this cover. But, the story was great! I love the main characters as well as the pulse-pounding adventure and look forward to next in this series.
