Wow, I could not put this book down! It was outstanding and I read it in one day! The writing style was great and the book flowed really well. It picked up off where the last one ended and that was great.

While a faster pace throughout would have been preferable, Aubrey skillfully provides subtle hints and reminders of the first installment, gratefully refreshing my memory. Aubrey's writing excels in its in-depth character development and vivid portrayal of Alaska's enchanting aura. If you're looking for a compelling narrative, I highly recommend The Last Hunt series!

Wow!. What a amazing psychological thrilling book this was. Splendid job on the writing. I was hooked and I was trapped in the this story. The plot was brilliant. Creating characters to fit the plot great. The background stories to match the characters was next to the high level of brilliant. I loved it all.

Cameron is breathing a bit easier, now that her husband is finally dead. She saw to that. But when murders begin to happen again, with a signature that is hard to ignore, Cameron panics. She is sure that John somehow survived and is killing again. Everyone tells her it is in her head, and she is seeing things that are not there, but she knows John. She knows he will never stop. Cameron is going to have to trust Dane, and dig down deep to ensure that she takes care of John, once and for all.

Oh, my, goodness! I absolutely LOVED this book. I went through it in one sitting. There was no way I was going to be able to stop once I began. Hopefully there is another book! I enjoyed this little series.

This book definitely sucked me right way, which is how I often feel with Audrey’s books. I really liked the last book in this series and was super excited to see the continuation of it. The audio was really well done. There were a few twists that felt a little predictable but I still really enjoyed reading it

This is another unputdownable thriller that had me glued to the pages. It's the second book and the conclusion to the hunt, but it can easily be read as a standalone. I loved the fast pace and short chapters of the story, and the way the author kept adding layers of suspense and casting suspicion and doubt to the characters. There was a lot of unreliability and I loved the cat and mouse feel to the mystery. The setting of a sparsely populated town in Alaska is perfect for creating a wild untamed vibe that lends itself perfectly to a serial murder novel. I loved every minute of it!

I had no idea this was a sequel to The Final Hunt as I started reading it. But right away I recognized those characters and I was excited for where this one would head. And even though I am a fan of books being stand alones, I really think this is better with the first one. The plot really relies on a lot from that first book. And with only two books, this is an easily bingeable series and totally worth the time

I really like Cameron and Dane. They have so much history and yet they can keep going. They are a big part of me loving this series. Along with the supporting cast. I wanted to know more about them and really wanted to root for Cameron to be able to get on with her life,

I am going to be careful so I am not spoiling book one, but the author does such a great job at casting doubt. On everything. I suspected everyone. I would figure it all out in my mind and then back pedal with a new solution. I must have “solved” this one a dozen times. Murders like in book one are happening again and then we find out there have been similar murders over many years. Can Cameron trust Dane or will he let her down like the others have?

I was invested from the very first sentence. Seriously. The remote setting is great. Of course there is a storm that hampers travel. (Isn’t there always in books set remotely?) I didn’t know who to trust (again). There is tension from the start that carries over until the end. I did not want to put it down.

Leslie Howard narrates this one and lets the story shine. She does an excellent job of expressing the tension and anxiety Cameron faces. She had the perfect voice to fit Cameron and does an excellent job bringing all the characters to life. Even the male ones.

If you love rich characters, a remote location and a pulse pounding thriller, you need to read this series.

Cameron Prescott has survived a lot and relocated to Tok, Alaska to find some peace. Cameron found out that her husband John was a serial killer. He murdered young women that were teachers. Cameron had no idea that she was married to a monster. Cameron's first husband abused her and was violent. Cameron survived both marriages doing what needed to be done. She thought both were in her past, but were they?

Cameron's boyfriend of 6 months is a state trooper named Dane. She really likes Dane and can see a future with him. Cameron is the only dentist in town and has gotten to know most of the people of Tok. When a young woman is murdered in similar fashion to how her husband killed women, Cameron gets a bit freaked out. Is John still alive? Has he found Cameron? Is he coming for her? Dane's wife died in a car crash he told Cameron. When Cameron finds out that's only part of the story, she wants to know why Dane had withheld the truth. What's Dane hiding? Can he be trusted? The murders taking place in Tok now resemble murders from the 90's. One of the suspects was Dane's father, a state trooper at the time. Could Dane be mixed up with these murders?

The Last Hunt is loaded with suspense and it just keeps coming. I rate The Last Hunt 5 stars with my highest recommendation. It's one of the most exciting thrillers I've read this year. In Book 2 of this series, Cameron Prescott has pulled up stakes and moved to Tok, Alaska, to start over with her state trooper boyfriend Dane Waska following the revelation that her husband John was a serial killer. Although John is presumed dead from a bear attack near his cabin in northern Washington state, a fresh killing in Tok resembles her late husband’s grisly signature. Tok is pronounced "toke" in case you wondered. I was pronouncing it as "tock" throughout the first book but this time I had the audiobook so now I know better.

I enjoyed this book but was getting annoyed by the constant repetition of certain threads, especially the fact that Cameron believes John is still alive and is responsible for recent deaths in the Tok area. Overall though it was a fast-paced read with some pretty tense moments. I loved the setting. This could probably be read as a stand-alone but do yourself a favour and read "The Final Hunt" first.

I had downloaded a copy of the book from Netgalley a couple of months ago but never looked at it until recently and it was impossible to read, like it was written in code. Since it was already archived I couldn't request it be sent again. By a stroke of luck I recently requested and was approved for the audiobook. Whew!

I read this so fast! This was fast-paced, tense and thrilling. The short chapters kept me reading in a rush (and well past bedtime LOL).

Technically this can be read as a standalone but do yourself the favor of reading The Final Hunt before jumping into The Last Hunt. There is enough backstory included in this one (without being repetitive) to give you a gist of what happened prior to the start of this book but it isn't the same as reading that whole book too!

I knew who the killer would be but it was a wild ride getting to the big reveal. I think the author did a great job of putting juuust enough doubt on several characters that it could have turned out a few ways. But I was hoping I'd be right (because the alternative would be too hard to bear!) and turned out it was a correct line of thought.

I'm excited to see there will also be a prequel story set in the same series!

Following the events of the first book, Cameron Prescott (now using her family name of Jenkins) is living in Tok, Alaska full-time. As well as working as the town's new dentist, Cameron is now neighbours with new boyfriend, state trooper Dane. It's a new start but it looks as if the past might be catching up with Cameron once again when a new murder takes place which has similarities to those committed by her (serial killer) late husband, John Prescott aka the Teacher Killer. John is dead though. Isn't he?

I really rather enjoyed the first book so I was eager to read the sequel & it was not a disappointment. Fast-paced with a few brutal scenes, the story grips the reader from the start & doesn't let go. Again, yes after a certain point partway through, it's fairly easy to work out what is going on & Cameron on occasion makes questionable decisions, but it doesn't really matter. Overall verdict: a tad predictable but a truly riveting thriller.

The Last Hunt is the final book in Audrey J Cole’s The Final Hunt duology and OMG was is a crowd pleaser, at least for this crowd of one it was. Cameron is living in Alaska and is dating the sheriff for the past six months when The Seattle detective shows up at her home. It seems they found the hidden cabin a bunch of blood and the bear trap she had John trap then when she called the wolves and although she tries to play it off her fingerprints were on the door knob. I don’t want to give anything away just know if you liked The Final Hunt this book is way better even the eyerolling was at a very reduced minimum as opposed to the first book I really enjoyed this book. The Last Hunt is the second book in The Final Hunt series. I have been a fan since The Pilot's Daughter which was the first book I read by Audrey J. Cole. Each of these books are well written heart pounding thrillers

Cameron is trying to build a life in Nok, AK after her serial killer husband supposedly died. Cameron begins to question whether he is really dead when bodies start turning up in some cases similar to her husband's m.o.

Cameron suspects that her husband is killing again. But these murders are similar to cold cases from the 90's. Only time will tell if her husband has started killing again or if it is someone from the past.

I really enjoy the writing style of the author. Each of the ones I have read can be stand-alone reads. I am instantly pulled into the story from the first few pages. This one is no different with several twists and turns until the killer is revealed. I highly recommend reading this and all of the others.

Wow! I LOVED this book so much! I loved that there was a lot of action in this book and so many chapters ended on cliffhangers. This book kept me guessing and had me on the edge of my seat. I loved that the book started off in the middle of one of the murders and was so action packed that it pulled the reader right into the book. I really enjoyed this reading experience and want to read more books from this author.

This novel is a sequel and would be best appreciated if the earlier one in the series is read first. Much of the content of the plot in this novel is based on the events from the previous one.

Cole does a good job of building up suspense by giving us initially what we think is a murder scene. Cameron has finally rid the world of a serial killer. Or has she? She thinks he might have survived and is killing again. As we near the end of the novel, we are still in the dark as to who is committing the murders.

There is a good deal of suspense as we near the conclusion of the novel. I was unsure of the true murderer and, like Cameron, did not know who was trustworthy. The aftermath of the suspenseful situation may have been a little too neatly tied up but I still enjoyed this novel.

I was aware when I requested The Last Hunt that it was the second book in the series. My mistake was not reading the previous book, The Final Hunt, first. I will advise that this is not a stand-alone as it opens immediately after the events of the previous book thereby giving away the end to that book.

Cameron Prescott is attempting to move on when she learns of a murder reminiscent of those attributed to her dead? husband. As facts are revealed signs point to the killer possibly being in law enforcement. How well does Cameron really know, Dane, an Alaska State Trooper and romantic interest? The bodies increase and Cameron believes she is being stalked.

This is a well written mystery/thriller. The setting of Tok, Alaska creates a mysterious backdrop to the plot. The author keeps up the pace and the story moves along.
