Description

Inheritance is the first in The Lost Bride Trilogy by #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts—a tale of tragedies, loves found and lost, and a family haunted for generations.

1806: Astrid Poole sits in her bridal clothes, overwhelmed with happiness. But before her marriage can be consummated, she is murdered, and the circle of gold torn from her finger. Her last words are a promise to Collin never to leave him…

Graphic designer Sonya MacTavish is stunned to learn that her late father had a twin he never knew about—and that her newly discovered uncle, Collin Poole, has left her almost everything he owned, including a majestic Victorian house on the Maine coast, which the will stipulates she must live in it for at least three years. Her engagement recently broken, she sets off to find out why the boys were separated at birth—and why it was all kept secret until a genealogy website brought it to light.

Trey, the young lawyer who greets her at the sprawling clifftop manor, notes Sonya’s unease—and acknowledges that yes, the place is haunted…but just a little. Sure enough, Sonya finds objects moved and music playing out of nowhere. She sees a painting by her father inexplicably hanging in her deceased uncle’s office, and a portrait of a woman named Astrid, whom the lawyer refers to as “the first lost bride.” It’s becoming clear that Sonya has inherited far more than a house. She has inherited a centuries-old curse, and a puzzle to be solved if there is any hope of breaking it…

After reading Nora Roberts for almost forty years, once again, I am hooked on a new trilogy: The Lost Brides.
Sonya's world is turned upside down when she inherits a haunted manor in Maine. There is the evil woman in black, some good ghosts, and new friends, new work, and a dog. How many brides die on their wedding day? What about the other ghosts? What is the meaning of seven rings? Where are they? What about the dreams?
Get started on this new triology and you will be wanting books two and three asap!

What the ever loving...I did not see the note about this being the first of a trilogy but that would not have stopped me from being sucked into this fabulous book. It is part fantasy, part ghost story, part mystery, and add in a little romance to keep it going and it is GREAT! Sonya finds out her father had a twin and she inherits a gothic mansion in Maine just when she is starting her life over after her fiance does her wrong and she is starting her career over freelancing and starting her own business. What she finds when she moves is a beautiful mansion but it is full of ghosts. Oh, this story held my enthralled from the beginning and now I am waiting impatiently for the next one! Ms Roberts you have done it again!

Loved the start of this new series by Nora Roberts. An old mansion with ghosts, along with a mystery as to how the brides all died. This is sad, but captivating. Nora Roberts has a way of capturing your attention immediately and keep you wanting more. I could not put this book down, but also didn't want it to end! Loved the characters who have been introduced so far and I am impatiently awaiting the other two books arrival.

First off I am a big Nora Roberts fan. This one did not disappoint. I am left wanting more. As I do believe it’s the first of a new trilogy, I cannot wait for the next installment. A great beginning.

Nora Roberts works her magic once again in “Inheritance”. Readers will be sucked into the story from the beginning and be left breathless for more after reading the final page. The characters are well drawn and the story moves at a steady pace. While this book is similar in style to some of Nora Roberts’ previous series, there is enough dissimilarities and new elements that readers will be eager to keep reading. This book is a part of a series so it does end on a cliffhanger.

Sonya's life is changing in many ways. She just found out her fiance` has been cheating on her. Now, she is surprised when a lawyer visits to tell her that her father had a twin. After her uncle's passing, he has left her the family manor in Poole's Bay. When she arrives, Sonya discovers she has also inherited the family ghosts. With some help, she is determined to break the curse of lost bride manner.

Inheritance was an absolutely wonderful book! The ghost story is just scary enough to give the reader goosebumps. It is still light enough to comical. The ending had me rather depressed, only because it was over and now I have to wait for the next book!

Thank you so much for this opportunity to review an ARC copy! I impatiently wait for the next chapter!

Nora Roberts is the queen of engaging triology’s and this book continues her reign. She has set the scene for 2 more books by creating engaging characters, a beautiful setting & personal growth for the main character. Throw in the bits & pieces of a generations old curse & haunting…..she had me hooked!

This is a boom I will definitely reread as I am waiting for books 2 & 3!

Nora roberts is one of my favorite authors. This is an exceptional book and hard to put down. Sonys is shocked to realize her father who passed away had a twin and never knew he did. The twin willed Sonys his manor but she has to live in it for three years to inherit everything so she packs up and moves in. Strange things start to happen and she realizes the manor is haunted. There are good ghosts who do fun things in the manor but there is a mean ghost who wants her gone. A very good book. Can’t wait for the second book to come out

Nora Roberts is on top of her game with Inheritance. I loved this book! It's classic Nora Roberts with some spooky paranormal mixed in and it's very well done. Great story, lots of suspense, and I couldn't put this book down. I can't wait for the next in the series. I'm pretty stingy with my 5 star reviews, but Nora is in a league of her own so in rating it against her other books, Inheritance is an easy 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, St Martin's Press, and Nora Roberts for providing me this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

About: Sonya MacTavish's life is upended after finding her soon-to-be-husband in bed with her cousin days before their wedding. When a stranger shows up and tells her she's inherited a multimillion dollar estate from a relative she never knew existed, this just might be Sonya's chance for a fresh start.

Thoughts: Oh Nora... She never fails to amaze me. Reading a Nora Roberts novel is like the warmest hug on a chilly day. Nostalgic, magical goodness. In true Nora fashion, Inheritance has a strong female protagonist, loveable male love interest, a great supporting cast (including the best BFF a woman can ask for), a swoony love story, found family, and, as this one's fantasy, a haunted house and magical elements.

Inheritance is the perfect read on a fall day and I devoured it!! Nora takes me back to my 20s when I first discovered her work, and I fall in love with her writing all over again.

All the stars for Inheritance! I can't wait for book 2!!!

Thank you SMP for my gifted copy 🥰

Review will be posted to my review page around pub day.

She is one of my all time favorite authors and a guaranteed auto buy for me! This book one of a new series does not disappoint. Perfect for fall and spooky season! I absolutely cant wait to read the next two books in the series. Thank you to net galley and the publisher for the pleasure of reading this book!

'Inheritance' is a page-turning attention grabber from the first chapter; I couldn't put it down. A terrific start to a new series, I loved the characters - especially Sonya, Trey, and Cleo, and I can hardly wait to see what happens next!

I'm a big fan of Nora Roberts' trilogies, especially the way she weaves the stories to play out over the whole of the trilogy, and she one-ups herself here by giving 'Inheritance' a cliffhanger ending leaving readers to wait impatiently for the next 'The Lost Bride' installment to find out if Sonya's plan will work.

Recommended.

I set aside a current read because I was given a chance to review this new Nora Roberts book!! WORTH IT 1000%!! Nora Roberts captivates with her compelling world building and character development. I was swept away, into a world of twists and turns, that I honestly didn't want to leave!! To say that this book (like others from Nora Roberts) sucked me in, is an understatement. Immersive, captivating, gripping, all that and more! I want more!!! I have been a fan for years, this new book, just proves why I will ALWAYS choose Nora Roberts over any other author!! Only "negative" is the next one isn't ready cause I NEED MORE!! Truly a work of art from the master of romantic suspense novels! Can I be Nora Roberts when I grow up?!?!

Thank you, NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Nora Roberts has done it again! The fantasy/paranormal activity gives chills and makes for an awesome Halloween read.

As this is the first book in a trilogy, the major plot points are a little murky as the world building is happening in this story. Getting all the backstory and world building was done at a good pace and allowed the reader to learn the main characters in a more enjoyable fashion than just a simple flashback.

The characters are well written and enhance the plot. Each character is multi-dimensional and feels as if they could have their own spinoff book. Cleo, for example, is interesting and confident. I would love to see a story with her as the lead.

Sonya is a strong female lead and is enjoyable to see her strength and independence shine on the pages.

Of course, because it is the first in a trilogy, it leaves the reader desperate to know more

I am now very embarrassed that I had never read anything by Nora Roberts. I loved this book and can not wait for the next two in this trilogy.
The story was engaging, the characters believable and the pace great. I do have to admit that the ghost elements of the story did keep me up at night.
Lucky me, she is a prolific writer so I have a lot to read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my review.

When someone asks who my favorite author is, I always reply “Nora Roberts”. She is a great storyteller, and the reader will not be disappointed with “Inheritance”. This book has it all: engaging characters, and a great story-line, ghosts, a mysterious family line, a family curse, lost love, romance, a gorgeous location, a great description of shops you really want to visit yourself. I couldn’t help but read this in one sitting. This is part one of a trilogy which makes you desperate to read the next 2 books. And a darn cliffhanger so we must wait for the next in the series.
