In the chilling haze of a Pacific Northwest evening, on November 24, 1971, a mysterious man calling himself ‘Dan Cooper’ boards Northwest Orient Flight 305. Armed with a briefcase bomb and dark shades to mask his intent, he swiftly extorts $200,000 along with four parachutes and disappears mid-flight, leaping into the unknown from a Boeing 727’s aft staircase.

Using real case evidence and eye-witness testimonies, Jude Morrow has crafted an authentic and creative duel narrative of why 'Dan Cooper', or 'D.B. Cooper' as he became popularly known, committed the crime that he did, and the relentless efforts of the FBI to track him down.

Beneath the hijacker's enigmatic facade lies a past intertwined with rural Canada, service in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and daring aid-drops in war-torn Vietnam. As the world grapples with his audacious crime, relentless FBI agent Clifford Harding finds himself consumed by the chase for 'D.B Cooper'.

Young, sharp, yet teetering on the edge of obsession, Harding’s pursuit blurs the line between justice and vendetta. With shadows from ‘Dan’s’ past looming and Harding’s intentions growing murkier, one is left to wonder: Who is the real villain in the hijacking? Will Harding unravel the mystery, or become its next casualty?

An enthralling chase for truth and redemption in the gripping world of Dan Cooper.

Historically famous, Cooper still withstands the test of time in pulling off the only unsolved skyjacking incident. In this gripping work of fiction, the author takes us on a thrilling journey into the mysterious case and one of the possible outcomes of its completion. The likability of DB Cooper adds an intriguing twist, whilst dedicated detective, Clifford Harding, who has upended his life in search of the elusive Cooper, brings a sense of urgency to the story. With its captivating plot and well-developed characters, this book is a must-read for fans of crime fiction and unsolved mysteries.

The authors dedication shines through in this meticulously crafted tale of suspense and intrigue.

This novel delves into the baffling case of 'D.B. Cooper,' using actual evidence and accounts. Cleverly Woven, Compelling....

This book is based on a real story. This actually happened. I remember when this happened very clearly. I was one of those people who wanted Dan to get away with it. (Wrong as that may be.)

It is November 24, 1971. A man named Dan Cooper boards a Northwest Orient plane in Seattle. He is carrying a briefcase and a paper bag. He passes a note in an envelope to one of the stewardesses.

So, it begins. The meticulously planned hijacking of the jet. The plane stops to refuel. THe passengers are let off.

The FBI caught on to the hijacking very quickly and moved into high gear. Passenger manifests revealed nothing of note. FBI Agent Clifford Harding is working the case as well as the rest of the Bureau. In fact, Harding becomes so very obsessed with the case that he sacrifices everything. His marriage, his home and almost his job.

This is the “what if” story of Dan Cooper and Clifford Harding. We learn about Dan’s past, his life, his marriage and occupation (I am not giving anything away. You must read the book!) At the same time we watch the apparent deterioration of Clifford’s life.

This is an excellent exercise in speculation. The characters are so well drawn; so well fleshed out. The reader feels as though they personally know them. A front row seat to the action, so to speak. The emotions of the actors are so clear. Dan reaches anti-hero status and Clifford is the tragic hero. Wonderful, wonderful novel. Jude Morrow has a new fan!

I want to thank NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for forwarding to me a copy of this remarkable book for me to read, enjoy and review. The opinions expressed in this review are solely my own.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for this arc. I really enjoyed this story. The topic of Dan Cooper has always fascinated me. The author did a wonderful job of reminding the reader that even though the people on board the flight didn't know what was going on at the time, they were still victims of this crime.
This story is a work of fiction but it is based on true events. Parts of the story are sad, keep your Kleenexes near by.

Jude Morrow's "Dan Cooper" unfolds with all the intrigue and suspense of a classic whodunit. Much like the figure at the heart of the story, the book itself is shrouded in mystery, inviting readers into a realm where the line between fact and fiction blurs, leaving us spellbound and craving for more.

From the very first page, I felt thrust into the heart-pounding events of November 24, 1971, as the elusive 'Dan Cooper' boards Northwest Orient Flight 305, with nothing but a briefcase bomb, dark shades, and a resolute determination. The audacious extortion of $200,000 and a daring mid-flight parachute escape from a Boeing 727 left me gasping for breath and utterly captivated.

Morrow weaves fact and fiction into a seamless narrative. With a canvas rich in real case evidence and eye-witness accounts, Morrow crafts a dual narrative that explores the motivations and complexities of 'Dan Cooper' while also exposing the relentless pursuit of justice by the FBI, personified by agent Clifford Harding.

Morrow unravels the layers of Cooper's past, revealing a representation of rural Canada, service in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and daring aid-drops in war-torn Vietnam. Morrow takes us on an exhilarating journey into the psyche of the hijacker, leaving us to ponder whether 'D.B. Cooper' is the villain, a hero, or something far more obscure.

The relentless chase for 'D.B. Cooper' leads to Clifford Harding, an FBI agent teetering on the edge of obsession. As we investigate Harding's pursuit, the line between justice and vendetta blurs, creating a moral quagmire that left me questioning who the real villain in the hijacking truly is. Will Harding succeed in unraveling the mystery, or is he destined to become its next casualty?

Morrow's writing is an irresistible force, pulling readers deeper into the web of intrigue with every turn of the page. The story is a dance between reality and imagination, culminating in a legendary tour de force. "Dan Cooper" kept me on the edge of my seat, heart racing as I attempted to piece together the mystery of 'Dan Cooper.'

"Dan Cooper" is a dazzling and original work that defies genre boundaries. Jude Morrow has created a respected work of literary art that pays homage to the audacity of the real-life hijacker while delivering a narrative so gripping, you'll be left in awe. This book is an exhilarating rollercoaster of suspense, a tribute to those who dare to take flight, and a mystery that will keep you guessing long after the final page.

An interesting speculative fiction based on the real life case of D.B. Cooper.

This book was obviously really meticulously researched and tries to fill in the gaps in our knowledge.

I found it interesting to read. The only thing I will say is that the author is Irish and being an Irish person myself, sometimes the spoken language in it read like it was spoken in an Irish speech pattern.

However, this is not off putting, just a little idiosyncrosity.

Worth giving a go if you are a fan of the case.

Jude Marrow's "Dan Cooper" is a captivating adventure that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The author's ability to weave a tale of suspense and intrigue is commendable, making this novel a truly enjoyable read.

The character of Dan Cooper is well-developed and charismatic, drawing readers into his world of high-stakes action and danger. Marrow's writing style is engaging, with vivid descriptions that bring each scene to life. The pacing of the story is expertly done, balancing moments of intense action with quieter, character-driven scenes.

One of the highlights of the book is its attention to detail, especially when it comes to the aviation elements. It's evident that Marrow has done thorough research, and this adds authenticity to the narrative. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast or not, the technical aspects are presented in a way that enhances the story rather than overwhelming the reader.

The plot is well-crafted, with unexpected twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. The combination of suspense, mystery, and a touch of romance makes "Dan Cooper" a well-rounded and engaging novel.

While the book is undoubtedly thrilling, there were moments when I wished for a bit more depth in certain character relationships. Additionally, a few scenes felt rushed, leaving me yearning for more exploration of the emotional nuances between characters.

In conclusion, "Dan Cooper" by Jude Marrow is a four-star adventure that delivers on its promise of excitement and intrigue. I've never read speculative fiction before but I absolutely had to delve into this spin on D.B. Cooper. It was interesting. The author obviously did their research and filled in the gaps well. Dan's life was dramatic and riveting and Detective Clifford was pretty typical, almost cliche.

An interesting look at the D.B. Cooper case from the 70s going back and forth between the FBI lead agent and the person of interest. I remember when this happened and though at times this book was entertaining there were other times that it felt like it just dragged as well. I could also imagine what it was like for the FBI to track down every lead and feel like they got where. Still interesting.

I picked up this book as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. As a true crime enthusiast, I was curious about a novel about Dan Cooper. I’m happy to say this page turner was good enough to finish in one evening. The novel follows two timelines, one of “Dan Cooper” and that of the investigating officer and his hunt for Cooper.
The novel takes the information we know about Dan Cooper and creates a theory of who he was and his motivation to do what he did. The investigating officer documents the moment of learning about the hijacking through his years of stress and alcoholism as he hunts for Cooper. There are interesting parallels between the two men that eventually come together. I would recommend this for true crime or DB Cooper enthusiasts, thriller lovers, or anyone looking for a fast paced historical fiction.

The hijacking by "DB Cooper" in 1971 was a fascinating story when I was a young man. That someone could hijack a plane, hold the crew ransom for a whole lot of money, then PARACHUTE into the night from the plane was incredible! And to stay a mystery today. What a story!
The author writes his fictional story of what may have happened. It's really good! He explores the characters of Dan Cooper and of the FBI agent Clifford Harding, as well as other characters. The character development is excellent. You can't help but feel sorry for Cooper. And for Harding as well, as his entire life is consumed by the event.
And the plot! It leaves one thinking....maybe. It was fast moving, exciting, and well written.
The ending was just right. Couldn't possibly be any better.
This is just a great read!
