Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the review copy in exchange for an honest review.

I wanted to love this book, historical romance, pirates, and adventure but this was not great in most places (there were some places where it was amazing and I wanted to keep reading to see what was happening.) but it was mostly not great. One of the first things I didn't like about this book was how the characters could seem so in love and one page and then incredibly awkward with each other like they had no chemistry on the next page. Another thing I hated about this book was the fact that the hero did something wrong and the heroine had to go after him and tell him sorry even though she was not in the wrong. Overall I would not recommend this book to anyone but if you think you might like it feel free to try it.

I have to say that this is a very entertaining book. I enjoyed reading about pirates fighting to claim their bounty and Damsels who fought for freedom. The writing is very good. The story I believe is told very well. The leaders character Jack is a very entertaining captain. He knows that he has stollen Celia’s heart. It’s a difficult process for to convince Celia that he did. The adventures and the romance seems so real. The logic of the plot is perfect for Celia’s story. I loved the romance of it all. I give this book two snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

This is my first opportunity reading something by this author. The book is full of adventure and excitement and it didn't take long for me to get fully engaged in the story. Celia is a young and spirited girl and is not one to sit idle. She longs to get away and have an adventure, and she gets that opportunity when her aunt becomes very ill. She goes to Bermuda to be with her aunt, and she stays with her till the end. After her aunt's passing, Celia sets off to return home. Seems like she gets her wish for adventure when the ship she is travelling on is attacked by pirates. Jack is travelling on a treasure hunt for emeralds. He has been having some financial difficulties, and his hope is that this treasure could be the solution to his problems. On his journey, he sees that the ship Celia is travelling on is in trouble and he boards the ship and helps, rescuing Celia in the process. Celia is captivated by her hero, but back home, she is already betrothed to her best friend. But she cannot deny the feelings that are growing for Jack each day that she is with him.
The story was well-written and captivating and held my interest all the way through. The author did a nice job of bringing the story to life with vivid descriptions of each scene. The characters were well-developed and interesting and I could feel the pain and dilemma that Celia felt between her duty and her true feelings. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more by this author.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I loved this captor captive story and relationship between Celia and when her ship gets attacked by pirates and this pirate lord named Jackson Beaumont.
The beginning of the story I feel was a little slow and dragged on but it got good in the middle and end. I loved the slow burn of the two characters.
The cover of this book is what brought me to apply for the book and hope I get approved to read it. I am greatful I got to read this book!

Celia Breckenridge takes the opportunity to visit her ailing aunt in the Bahamas, having longed for an adventure before she resigns herself to marrying her betrothed and childhood friend Brett. After Celia's aunt passes away, she seeks quick passage back to England to see her sister. However, Celia's shipped is attacked and raided by pirates before Celia, the lone survivor from her ship, is saved by the handsome Captain Jack Beaumont and his ship.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. Jack was very endearing and it was lovely to watch Celia and Jack's relationship develop. We really get to see the friendship they come to have with each other. Each character, even the side characters, were quite unique and well-developed. The story is certainly filled with lots of adventure, and the dialogue was highly entertaining.

The writing, while quite good, wasn't quite to my personal taste though. It was wonderfully descriptive and usually engaging, but it moved at a very slow pace and I thought some things could have been left out for a snappier story to keep my interest stronger. Also, the use of 'Twas, 'Tis, 'Tisn't and etc. outside of dialogue was quite distracting.

I am thankful for receiving an advanced copy to read and review with my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this pirate story - some great twists, a psychic link, and a feisty heroine I cheered for. I’m hoping there’s a sequel with her sister’s story.

Celia Breckenbridge longs for an adventure before she is to be married to her betrothed Brett, who is more like a brother to he than anything else. So when her aunt falls ill, she travels to the Bahamas to visit her. When she returns, her ship is attacked by vicious pirates but fortunately she is rescued by Jackson Beaumont.
What I expected was a typical pirate story with a pirate lord and a lay on his ship. But this story turned quite differently, which was refreshing.
There were a few things at the beginning that made me doubt this book. The pirate attack contained quite a graphic description of the violence, I skipped that, I don’t like to read it quite so detailed. Also, it was assumed that Celia “feels things, knows things about her sister and her surroundings” - totally hate that stuff, I would scrap that. Then there was talk about Jack’s loins: ‘blood had dispatched to his loins with vicious intensity.’ So I seriously wondered what kind of story this would be and what would happen next.
But things got a lot better after that. There was a surprising storyline, which created the circumstances for Jack and Celia to grow closer and for their relationship to develop naturally. I really liked the way it was handled.
The writer has the ability to paint a picture, making you see every scene in detail, as if watching a movie. Very well done!
In the end Celia acted very immature and egotistical, which was disappointing, and the end wasn’t this bombshell you might expect. It didn’t work for me. But the dialogues with Jack are marvelous, I was really rooting for him and totally agreed with his reasoning. The secondary characters are lovely; the shipmates, Celia’s family and the twist with Brett and Jack and Rianna brought a smile on my face. Overall, a nice read and well worth your time.
I received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book and am grateful for this opportunity. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a very action filled story.

I liked this story. Unlike some stories, the fight scenes actually makes sense.
The heroine is going to Bermuda because he aunt was sick and needed help. Her betrothed comes over to say good bye. The betrothed is a neighbor's child and they were betrothed when he was 3 and she was born. Immediately her sister or twin fights with him. I could tell right there that her sister and her betrothed were going to end up together. It was obvious.i like the age gap, but I knew they would never get married. So she packs her bags and travels to Bermuda. The next we see the heroine, she is in a ship home as the companion of the captain's wife. There is a drizzly, bloody pirate attack and she us taken as a prize. She was tied to the main sail so she couldn't jump overboard, and was suffering sun stoke. The pirates are fighting over her and a cannon comes across the bow. There is another violent fight where many people died, and she is going to the Carolinas to lock up the pirates who survived the two attacks. Than those pirates kidnapnher and the hero saves her for the third time.
This story really emphasized that there heroine is independent and sassy, but I found her whiny and self centered. Too many times, what happened to her was because she was impetuous and not cognizant of the danger she was placing herself in. If she had just been patient and not so self centered that she has to do what she wants and damn the consequences, it would have been a much better story. The type of story I likenisnehere things are out of the heroine's control and she has to overcome. Not a story, from beginning to ending, depends on the heroine making multiple bad decisions and the hero has to be noble and save her every time. This is not an positive thing. It is boring and repetitive.
So, in the end, the story ends the same way as it begins, obvious and chaotic. I think this may appeal to some readers, but i was not one if them. I wouldn't recommend it, except for the visual settings and correct grammar. I give it 2 stars
