Thank you Netgalley for the eARC.

This book has an interesting and unique storyline blending magical realism, fantasy and environmental fiction. I liked how the author employed these diverse genres and brought them together nicely. The use of language was also well executed.

However, the book felt jumbled. In the beginning, I kept waiting for the characters to get to the mountain, which I percieved as the main story point, but it tok a bit too long for that to happen in my opinion. There were also several different point of views in the story, and not all of them made sense to me. The book got interesting mainly in the second half, which I found better than the first.

This was a fun and fast paced book! I really enjoyed the setting and having not read many mountain expedition books in the past, I really enjoyed it. I also loved the magical element and thought that brought a nice twist to the story.

Mark Jenkins does a great job in creating a unique magical reality, it does a great job in telling the story. I loved the cover and that was what drew me in. The characters were written a realistic way that I wanted to continue getting to know. I can't wait for more from Mark Jenkins and this world hopefully.

"Now, Rhi was stuck climbing as the odd one out in a male-dominated expedition — and she knew she ought to count herself lucky that she was even accepted to Mountain Nirvana. The porcelain teacup shook in her hands, and she set it down. The times were changing. Stone by stone, women were climbing as high as the men and would soon stand as equals. It was part of God’s plan."
