My introduction to Abby Jimenez and I loved every second of it. I understand the Abby Jimenez hype now!

Abby Jimenez became an auto buy author since I read Part of Your World. Her stories have never disappointed me. There is something about how she writes a romance and the mmc that satisfies me in a way few other authors do. Just for the Summer is no different. The charachter;s back stories was pulling at my heart strings from the beginning. Both Emma and Justin have things that they need to navigate in their lives that throws a wrench in their plans to break each other's dating curse. Their relationship progress was sweet and had me kicking my feet giggling. (come on, he sent her surveys for before and after the date?!) This story was familiar to Jimenez's other work however different and fresh as there were many topics covered that haven't been present in her other work. For me, a romance needs to have more than the characters falling in love, I like to get to know the world and the relationships they have outside of their romance. This book has more to explore and makes me hope that other character's get their own love story one day. Jimenez hit it out the park yet again. Looking forward to reading more of her work in the future.

☀️Just For the Summer☀️

Abby Jimenez is an auto-buy author for me (I ended up with three copies of this one!) I know to expect an adorably cute but heartbreaking story. And, of course, Abby didn’t disappoint.

In JFTS, we have a headstrong FMC in Emma, but she’s got two suitcases full of issues. And as we’ve come to expect, our MMC, Justin, is your next book boyfriend- witty, tender hearted, and the ultimate golden retriever.

Their meet-cute is hilarious and Justin’s situation is so inventive. The premise was so interesting. And the way we always love the side characters… Maddy is the best friend we all want in life. There are Easter eggs everywhere, so I strongly suggest reading the POYW series in order, but it’s not necessary.

Now the wait begins for the next book… 😬

Thank you Forever, especially Estelle and Dana for wading through all the arc apps!, and Abby Jimenez for the review copy. These thoughts are my own.

Abby Jimenez can do no wrong in my book. This wasn't my absolute favorite by her, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't want it to end!

Imagine if all of your exes found their soulmate right after you break up with them. Justin and Emma both have this "curse" so they decide their best chance of breaking it is to date each other, then when they break up, they'll each meet their soulmate. Well, just guess how that turns out for them.

I think what I loved most about this book is that it touches on deeper topics in a way that lends to the story. Emma has a lot of baggage thanks to her mom, and it adds layers to her character. Justin has his own issues, such has getting custody of his siblings while his mom serves a prison sentence. He was a bit needy for my taste - or maybe not needy but very up front about his feelings in a way that would have made me, personally, uncomfortable. (Maybe I'm just weird, who knows). Anyway, it made me cringe a bit. I loved their chemistry and their banter, and the bits about the Toilet King cracked me up.

I adored Maddy (Emma's best friend) and I really hope she gets a book next!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I’m not ready for the Part of Your World series to be over!!! 🥲 I want this series to be 100 books long.

I feel very similarly about Abby Jimenez as I do Emily Henry. Abby’s books just feel like home. I love her writing style. I love her characters and the character development we get in her books. I just love everything!!!!!

Every woman Justin dates goes on to meet their soul mate after dating him. Reddit has confirmed his theory… or should I say curse? Emma has a similar problem. She sees Justin’s Reddit post and decides to DM him to let him know he’s not alone. The two discuss their curse and wonder… what would happen if they dated each other? Would they immediately find their soul mate after going their separate ways? The two are curious to find out what would happen. There’s just one problem, Emma is a travel nurse whose next assignment is in Hawaii and Justin is tied up with family obligations in Minnesota. Will the two ever get to test their theory? There’s only one way to find out. Emma cancels her travel assignment in Hawaii and signs a contract in Minnesota. Emma will be in town for six weeks… just long enough to go on a few dates with Justin and then move on to her next assignment. It’s just for the summer… what could go wrong?

I LOVE how the characters from Part of Your World and Yours Truly overlap in Just for the Summer 🥹 this series just feels so nostalgic!

This is such a fun romance and will no doubt make for the perfect summer read.

Thank you NetGalley and Forever Pub for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

ust for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m always excited about another release from Abby Jimenez. She has a unique way of mixing hilarious comedy with deep and serious topics.

This one definitely leaned more on the deep and serious for me and it felt like quite a bit was going on. I appreciated all of the storylines and enjoyed the character arcs, I just had a little trouble FEELING the chemistry between the characters.

I read this with a mix of the physical copy and audiobook, and I had a few thoughts. Both of the performances by the narrators were good, and the MMC even sounded like I thought he would, but it just lacked a little something for me. It definitely would have impacted how I felt about the book if I only listened to the audiobook. I recommend the physical this time around!

Perfect for you if you like:
Hilarious meet cute + premise
Foster care representation
He takes care of her when she’s sick
Toxic relationships
Dual pov
Navigating grief

Abby Jimenez does it again! Friendship, forgiveness, healing, found families... and no miscommunication trope! A prefect addition to the trilogy.

This is a BEAUTIFUL romance that follows two people who, really, are screwed up. Their lives are falling apart, and they can’t seem to find the balance they need to have lasting relationships. They believe it’s because of a curse- it’s really because of some small town magic that brings soulmates together.

Another amazing read by Abby Jimenez. I cried so much while working through this one and I’m not even mad about it.

Thank you to the author, publisher and @NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Abby, I don’t know how you do this so well! I felt all the feels in this one and I can’t believe I got approved for the ARC! If you ever watched the movie Good Luck Chuck, the basic premise is the same here: a guy with a ‘curse’ where every woman he dates and breaks up with finds true love with the next guy.

Then he meet-cutes a girl online with the same problem: all the guys she dates find their happily ever after with the next woman. Together they hatch a plot to date and break up to break their respective curses.

Emma is our FMC who is a traveling nurse. I always appreciate the thought and feeling Abby puts in to her medical professionals and I KNOW this must be influenced by her daughter’s medical issues.

Justin our MMC is *chef’s kiss* and every time Abby writes a male lead, she outdoes herself. So if you’re an Abby fan, this will be right up your alley!

Just for the Summer is the perfect love letter to Minnesota. I enjoyed this one so much since Minnesota is my home state. There were many easter eggs from other books and mentions of familiar places; I could not stop smiling. Justin and Emma have the best chemistry and character development throughout the book. Just for the Summer and The Happy Ever After Playlist are tied for my favorite Abby Jimenez book!

This book will have your emotions going from one end of the spectrum to the other - delight, optimism, joy and heartbreak- you'll laugh and cry. It touches on serious topics but shows the power of love and resilience. It's wonderful.

This is my favourite Abby Jimenez to date. The characters were so mature, and the communication between the two was top-notch (although, ouch?). The story had a cute premise, and the banter between Justin and Emma was adorable. I found myself relating to Emma a little too much, and although this is a romance book, the story didn't play out the way I expected, which was refreshing.

This was absolutely perfect and such a wonderful summer read with depth and beauty. Highly recommended!

This is one of the most heartfelt romances I’ve ever read. I’m not sure how Abby is able to weave a story that is both emotional and uplifting, sad and happy all at the same time. Just for the Summer was heavier than I expected, but given that Abby tackles different topics I shouldn’t have been surprised.

Justin and Emma are truly a special couple. I love how much they grew throughout the book and their relationship is something so unique.

I can’t express how much I loved this book!!

I am so sorry. I hated this.

After reading both of the previous books in this series, this one just didn't hold up. I was so excited by the premise - it was a really funny set up. But I felt bored the whole time?

I felt nothing for either of the characters. And I find the connections between all the books just a bit silly now. Like the world is not THAT small.....

The writing was fine. Nothing glaringly terrible, but nothing that stood out. A miss for me, sorry.

I am convinced that Abby Jimenez can do no wrong. This book was everything I wanted and I literally am about to book a one way ticket to Minnesota. The romance, the trauma, the growth-- it literally was all so well done and I loved all the little easter eggs from her previous books!

Just For The Summer (ARC)

5⭐️

This is my FIRST Abby Jimenez book and my rating up there probably tells you guys about my experience! I loved it! I know it's the 3rd one in the series (Part Of Your World) but this definitely can be read as a stand-alone.

It starts off with an already interesting concept- if a person dates and then breaks up with the FMC or the MMC, he/she finds their soulmate next. So they both thought to date and break up with each other to see if they'll get their own happily ever after. Fake dating but not really. Both Emma and Justin are lovable characters. Their personalities shine through and have none of the annoying traits (aka irrationality). The romance is extremely cute and not cringey. I adore Justin so much. He's not the immediately swoony, hot guy just based on the looks, but he had more depth. His personality and humor were top notched. I don't want to say what dating stuff they did and how Justin made it special (spoiler-free as promised) but I just loved them all! Now, there are HUGE underlying heavy topics like abandonment and family issues on both sides. It was so well written that I felt it but it also didn't feel too overwhelming or blown out of proportion. The issues felt realistic and raw and I think that's what makes this story so special. I have only cried ONCE in my reading history, so that speaks to my resilience, but I teared up a couple of times with this book.

Ps. Emma is a travel nurse and some of her comments were so relatable to someone like me who works in a hospital (even if I'm not a nurse) 🤣 So if you're in the medical field, there would be EXTRA funny moments to you.

Thank you Netgalley and Forever Publishing for a gifted e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In Abby Jimenez’s latest, Justin goes viral for a Reddit post where he confesses that he seems to be a good luck charm for love — every woman he dates finds The One as soon as she breaks up with him. His inbox is flooded with offers for dates, journalists requesting interviews…and a message from Emma, who’s dealing with the same situation. After exchanging increasingly flirtatious messages, Emma and Justin agree that the only way to find true love is to date each other for a little while. Just long enough to break the curse. Just for the summer.

At least, that’s what they tell themselves.

I love this novel because, as usual with an Abby Jimenez book, what starts off as a rom-com premise quickly goes deeper, showing how love forces Emma and Justin to face their demons, their past, and their future. Just for the Summer made me laugh and swoon and it also made me cry hard enough that I needed to reassure my husband that everything was okay, I was just reading the latest Abby Jimenez.

As usual for Jimenez, this is a mostly closed-door romance with one spicy scene that’s pretty vague. And if you have loved previous books in the series, know that you’ll get to see a few familiar faces. As always, you can read this book knowing that you will feel every emotion, and appreciate how thoughtful Jimenez is about mental health representation — she even thanks her mental health advisor in the acknowledgments.

I loved this novel and am so excited for readers to find it, too!

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for an early review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
