Description

Instant #1 New York Times bestseller and a Good Morning America Book Club Pick!
This witty, slow-burn rom-com is the "ideal beach read." --Elle

Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it's now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Emma hadn't planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka.

It's supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma's toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they're suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected--including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

Abby Jimenez has done it again. Not sure how, but each book is better than the last. Just For The Summer touched on real life issues and also has an amazing heart warming story with an interesting twist at the end. Abby has a knack for making me laugh, cry, and feel all the feels. Also, how she develops her characters shows how talented she is. The only bad thing is now that I’m done reading I have to wait even longer for her next book.

Abby’s ability to balance heavy topics while still delivering on point the comedic aspect of a romcom.

In Just for the Summer, Jimenez continues to explore really unique meet cutes for her couples (hello, reddit??), that somehow always end up feeling natural. The banter is brilliant right from their very first interaction together and it doesn’t miss a beat the rest of the story.

I love a book with dual POVs, and it works especially well here since both characters are going through so much with their respective families; we get to see their motivations and reason behind their actions.

Of course, Justin is the perfect gentleman pining after Emma. He is so caring, so patient and understanding. He made me melt. He is the perfect match for Emma, a girl looking to flee at the first sight of trouble because that’s all she’s known all her life. She’s a careful, no bullshit woman who will always choose empathy despite her troubled life.

At one point the story does get overwhelming because there’s a lot going on and it implodes at the same time that it left me needing a break from reading. Emma also makes some choices that I may or may not disagree with how they were handled, BUT I can’t stay mad at a girl who chooses herself against everything else and knows what’s good for her.

This book made me cry and laugh so much, just like Yours Truly and Part of Your World did. Abby fans will not be disappointed.

Thank you Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the arc!

Jimenez has once again confirmed that she is one of my favorite auto-buy authors and I truly think this may be one of her best yet 🤭 This felt like the missing puzzle piece within the Abby Jimenez universe and wrapped such a beautiful bow on the world she has created. This is a standalone, but I promise it will be way more satisfying to read this once you’ve read Part of Your World and Yours Truly — both 5 star reads for me too!

I don’t want to give too much of the plot away because going in blind made this even more of a sweeter ride, but all you need to know is that Justin and Emma’s story is one filled with complex family dynamics, a dating pact and found family that will leave you like a puddle on the floor.

This will pull at ALLL your heart strings ❤️‍🩹 I love how Jimenez has some of the romance take a backseat for part of the book, as both MC’s grapple and deal with their own lives and mental health in really vulnerable ways. Her characters were so incredibly well thought out and fully realized, that I felt like I knew Emma and Justin in real life.

Jimenez has a way of reminding me why I love the romance genre so much. Her love stories aren’t always filled with grand gestures, but they are filled with the seemingly simple and everyday moments that make love so special. Sometimes just showing up, and being there without the answers is one of the most romantic gestures possible and you will see these characters put their heart on the line time and time again.

You can just tell Abby but her heart and soul into this story, and even though it was so insanely heartbreaking, I think it is by far her best yet.

The last 15% of this book had me in tears and goosebumps as the overall story of healing comes together. UGH, it was just so very good!!!
