I’d like to thank Oldcastle Books, No Exit Press and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Evil Impulse’ by Leigh Russell in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

The body of Angie Robinson is found floating in a river after being suffocated, then another body belonging to Leslie Gordon has been left lying in rubbish next to a nightclub. As DS Geraldine Steel and DI Ian Peterson are investigating what looks to be the work of a psychopath, Geraldine is abducted by two men who threaten to harm her twin sister if she doesn’t do what she’s told.

I’ve read all the books in the DS Geraldine Steel series and although ‘Evil Impulse’ was an easy and enjoyable read, I don’t think it was quite as good as those previously. I enjoyed catching up with Geraldine and Ian who were working to solve the latest murders but Geraldine’s private life was in turmoil and she was so thoughtless of Ian’s feelings that I wanted him to give her a piece of his mind. Nevertheless, the storyline was interesting, with drama, suspense, credible suspects and twists and turns, and although I was going to give 3.5 stars I increased it to 4 for giving us such an exciting ending.
