No 17 in the Geraldine Steel series and Leigh Russell has done it again with this brilliant police procedural thriller. A murder with no obvious motive and very little to go on requires extra leg work for the team, until DNA left on a scarf near the body points to a local man, who is on police records. He is taken in for questioning and although they have the evidence a witness comes forward and puts the suspect in the clear. Geraldine is the officer who releases him but has she made a huge mistake? her gut instinct tells her she is right in assuming his innocence but then another body is discovered in the same area as the first!!!. I absolutely love this series which is set in and around York, it is written with precision and the charecters are well developed.
