Lorena and Salma are starting their last year of high school at the remote Huntington Academy. As a former manor, the school has bad cell reception, no wifi and forbidden wings to explore. When Lorena tags along with her friends’ bad idea to sneak around, they come across a hidden passageway leading to a secret room with a coffin. As they flee in terror, Lorena discovers the biggest secret of all—a vampire. What unfolds is a forgotten history that changes not only Lorena, Salma, and their friends, but potentially the world as they know it.
This was a good young adult paranormal romance. It definitely drew on themes of discovering one’s self and figuring out your role in the world—regardless if it’s the human world or vampire world. The bonds between old friends and new were also interestingly explored. The foundation for a good story was laid out as well, but many times the dots connected too quickly or too conveniently for my liking. However, it did keep the story moving and me mostly engaged. Check this novel out if you are looking for a lighter read with teenage drama plus vampires. 3 stars.
