Finlay Donovan finally fixed her Russian mob problem, but her best friend and babysitter, Vero, has been extradited to Virginia to face charges for a crime she did not commit. Shackled with an ankle bracelet and forced to live with her overbearing mother and nosy aunt, Vero has leads she wants to follow but can't. This leads Finlay, Vero's family, and some old faces to travel to Maryland and do what the cops won't: find the real culprit and recover the money to bring Vero home.

One thing that's always guaranteed with Finlay Donovan is a good time. She and Vero continually get into the silliest of situations that would border on the absurd if it weren't for the fact that Cosimano has a way of making everything feel amped up and dangerous. It rarely is, but you get the feeling that this might be the time that their luck will run out. I also enjoy the fact that Finlay is almost always against doing the dumb thing and gets pulled into it anyway by a desire to help her loved ones. We see a lot of that in this book, and it's a big part of why I think it's the one I've enjoyed the most since the first one.
Every single character that has ever had anything to do with Finlay gets a fun callout or moment over the course of the plot. You'd think it would make it feel like too much, but it somehow works out and adds something to the story. It was fun to see who and how would be introduced next. It's also a big reason why I don't think this would be as enjoyable as a stand-alone or first introduction to the series.
A lot of major things happen that will have an impact on the series going forward. If the fact that it's one of the most fun adventures Fin and Vero have had isn't enough, this is a big reason to pick it up and read.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the fun read!
