This book has a great premise and what I thought was some clever writing. It also seemed to be very realistic hard science fiction. However, I did not find the characters compelling and the pacing was poor. There was so much detail that the book frequently read like a science textbook or instruction manual. I also thought that there was too much inner dialogue. At around half-way through, I just started skimming to see what would happen because, as I said, the premise was fascinating. The book became more interesting towards the end, but this wasn’t enough to change my opinion. Thank you to Netgalley and Podium Publishing for the advance reader copy.
