Hermina Davenport is a governess of The Parasol Academy who takes her charge's well-being very seriously, which is how she ends up rescuing an orphaned young viscount from a ship headed to the North Pole. A slight hiccup in their magical transportation lands them in the ship of the new Lord Kinsale, Phineas O’Connell, a former prizefighter from Dublin’s backstreets. Neither can explain how she ended up there. It becomes an opportunity for Mina to have a safe place to hide the young viscount and for Kinsale to learn the proper ways of his newly inherited title and to smooth out his rough edges, including a stammer. With the lessons growing ever more enticingly intimate and enemies at the door, the governess and the Marquess will have to decide what they're willing to fight for.

Another excellent book that adds some magic to the best of historical romance without taking itself too seriously. It's a fun read that manages to feel light despite some semi-serious topics being brought up.
Mina is a little ball of anxiety, but she's willing to do almost anything to see the little viscount safe. She's also loving to anyone who needs her, and it even extends to Phinn's saucy pug. Phinn is unsure in his new position. He knows that it allows him to do good, and he's ready to work for it. His stammer is a little endearing, but other people judge him for it and use it as an excuse to dismiss what he says. He goes into his lessons with Mina with pure (ish) intentions, even adopting a street urchin to have an excuse to hire a governess and have it all be above board. It's incredibly fun to see them try to fight the chemistry between them, and even better when they finally give in to it.
The part of the plot about the fae queen and the kidnapping attempt creates a nice balance with the romance, so that there's some suspense to add tension to the story. You know everything is going to work out perfectly, but it's always nice to see how they'll get their HEA.

Delighted thanks to NetGalley and Kensington for the wonderfully magical romance read!
