Saeldian made a pact with a fey. They will never give their heart away in exchange for getting great magical powers. They've seen how messy love can get, so they don't see it as an issue. But years later, an almost impossible mission sees them reunited with Kell, a former partner in cons they'd left behind. Kell has spent the last 10 years feeling betrayed by Saeldian, but this mission might be his only chance to return to the Feywild. They'll work together in a mission that gets more complicated by the day, and will be forced to face feelings and things left unsaid if they hope to make it out of the Feywild alive.

The characters are so much fun. It's a wild ride full of emotional moments and fun little moments that kept me turning pages.
I found out after finishing this book that it's connected officially to Dungeons & Dragons, which makes a lot of sense because it has the feel of a very well-planned cozy adventure campaign. You get to meet a wide range of beings during the course of Saeldian and Kell's travels and it makes the plot feel expansive. You do feel like. you're exploring a magical realm where anything can happen.

My one complaint is that every time emotions come to the forefront, there's something that makes survival more important. It makes the adventure aspect super fun, but it made me wish they could just call a time-out on the adventure and have the talk they were supposed to have 10 years earlier. It's not a big complaint because it's perfectly justified within the plot why Saeldian can't talk about it. It's just my pet peeve.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and Inklore | Random House Worlds for the magical read!
