Nanako Hanada shares the story of how recommending books to people she met helped her find a better, more fulfilling life by giving her a way to create a community. She begins in a sad spot and starts meeting people on an app mostly to distract herself. But her love of books and the desire to push herself out of her comfort zone because she wants more in life make for a great combination. She meets all kinds of people and has the opportunity to recommend some great books to them, most of which sound really good, TBH.

It's a calm read that feels mundane while saying a lot, if you're willing to listen. Some things are very distinctly Japanese and of the culture, but most of it translates very well. And I'm not just talking about what seems to be some solid translation work by Cat Anderson, I mean that you can easily imagine the things Nanako goes through happening wherever you live.

It's an engaging read and food for thought.

Very happy thanks to Tiny Reparations Books for the great read!
