📝 ARC Review: While I wish this had been written in a more personal, raw manner (to feel more relatable), I totally understand what the author meant by writing this story in a way that would be less triggering for her while writing about her trauma and less triggering for certain readers. So therefore this memoir is written in a more clinical, cool manner, with many statistics and references.
It was very informative! She discusses a variety of traumas and the effects afterwards. Talks about sex crimes against women, takes into account race/ethnicity, gender/sexual orientation, etc. Various different types of SA. Including coercion and manipulation. - There were some things brought to light that I had never thought about before or necessarily associated with SA trauma. So some of this was rather eye opening and definitely leads me to some self introspection on things that resonated with me in a way I’d never thought of before. - If you want to see statistics on SA and how race/LGBTQ identity etc factor in, this would definitely be a helpful book to read.
