I thought that the information was fascinating. There were good explanations of the science and some great art with descriptions and interpretations so I was able to understand how they applied to the text. I appreciated how the book went beyond just the flu, into discussions of the social implications of the epizootic. The book took some interesting detours but sometimes, in my mind, they went too far afield. I also found the writing not conversational enough for my taste; I find that very long sentences disrupt the flow and are difficult to follow. Overall, this book is well worth reading. Thank you to NetGalley and University of North Carolina Press for the advance reader copy.
