This is the second Castle Cove romance novel, and I absolutely loved being back in this gorgeous Cornish seaside town! If you've read the first book, A New Start at the Happily Ever After Bookshop, you'll immediately recognise some familiar faces, but if this is your first visit, what a lovely introduction to this adorable little town and its warm, friendly community. The First Sip Coffee Shop sits right next door to the bookshop and is run by Lucy, who has invested everything she has into creating a cosy, welcoming place where everyone feels at home. I love how the two businesses are connected, and although both books can be enjoyed as standalones, why not treat yourself and read them both!

I didn't even read the blurb before starting this one. This is the third book I've read by Emma Bennet this year, and I've enjoyed her writing so much that I have all her other novels waiting patiently on my Kindle for their turn! Emma has such an incredible way of bringing her stories to life. Wherever the characters go, I feel as though I'm right there alongside them. Her descriptions are so wonderfully natural that I can picture everything without even trying. I've often thought that some books would make lovely films, but honestly, I don't think a film could improve on the pictures Emma creates in my imagination. Her characters are perfectly imperfect, and that's what makes them so believable and so easy to fall in love with.

This story focuses on Lucy and Dylan, along with the wonderful community around them. Dylan seems determined to be charming and helpful at every opportunity, but unfortunately for him, Lucy isn't particularly impressed! She's fiercely independent, perfectly capable of looking after herself and certainly doesn't need anyone rushing to her rescue. But when an unexpected letter threatens everything Lucy has worked so hard to build, she finds herself facing an uncertain future. And, of all people, it's Dylan who happens to be there when her world is turned upside down. He's determined to help, but accepting that help might mean sacrificing some of the independence she's fought so hard to protect.

Oh, Lucy! There were times I wanted to give her a little shake and tell her to open her eyes! But I could also understand why she was so reluctant to trust someone else with her future. And Dylan… well, perhaps he did try a little too hard sometimes, but the more I got to know him, the more I understood why he behaved the way he did. Beneath all that confidence and charm was such a lovely, caring man. No wonder everyone in Castle Cove adored him! I loved watching this relationship develop, even when I was practically shouting at the pages in frustration!

I loved catching up with Carrie and Michael at the bookshop next door, along with the other familiar faces who make Castle Cove such a wonderful community. The friendships feel so natural, with everyone popping in and out of each other's lives and always looking out for one another. And as Christmas approaches, the seasonal baking, decorations and festive get-togethers add even more warmth to this lovely little town. It really does feel like returning somewhere familiar, where everyone knows everyone!

I absolutely flew through this book! Well, I would have done if I hadn't been so determined to make it last longer! I actually stopped reading and went to bed, only to spend hours tossing and turning because I couldn't stop thinking about the characters. I was determined not to finish it all in one sitting, although looking back, I probably would have had a much better night's sleep if I had! The following day, I resorted to reading a chapter and then forcing myself to do some housework before allowing myself another. Anything to put off reaching that final page, because I really wasn't ready to leave Castle Cove behind!

And what a lovely ending! Nothing felt rushed, there was no need for unnecessary drama, and everything came together so beautifully. It was exactly the sort of ending I'd hoped for, even though I desperately wanted the story to carry on. A wonderful, heartwarming romance that left me smiling and wishing I could visit Castle Cove for real!
