Description
Rococo, a well-crafted tale of a future that’s closer than you think, is the first sci fi novella from conventionally published novelist Sue Hollister Barr. In her story it's early in the 22nd century and...oh surprise!...future tech just means the same corrupt corporations that currently do all possible to separate you from your money have new tools of their trade. Dark humor peppers this literate-but-fun-and-fast-reading novella, which includes lively action, compelling characters, and as many plot flourishes as the name suggests. But it’s based on research by companies paid a lot to predict the future for those same major corporations whose mission it is…with as little trouble and expense for themselves as possible…to ravish your bank account.

A Note From the Publisher
Sue Hollister Barr's first publishing credits included The New York Times and Twisted, a conventionally published horror novel that's still selling in both its original trade-publication version and her 2015 new author’s edition. (Both are available on Amazon and other locations both online and in brick-and-mortar bookstores.) She was senior editor for a literary agency for ten years, has taught creative writing (with the blessings of state certification to do so), has hosted numerous writers workshops designed to supply precisely detailed constructive criticism, and is an active member of SFWA. Her writing is adult, a touch raunchy/bohemian, and full of the eclectic mix of sentiment and dark humor that best expresses her own personality.
Rococo is currently available online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble in paperback, but the real bargain in the Kindle version for 99 cents.

Advance Praise
"...a novella with as many plot flourishes as its name suggests. In a richly imagined future, Nan is designing the propulsion system for a vessel with a mysterious itinerary, and she’s working for an elusive boss. Her work, she discovers, is of interest to many parties, and she has the dark suspicion that not all that interest is healthy. There is indeed something sinister afoot, and the voice of Nan’s grandfather echoes in her mind: “Only you can overcome this.”
Sue Hollister Barr’s characters will draw you into this tale, leading you through fantastic settings and swirling twists. But be warned: once may not be enough. Rococo is a story that invites—and rewards—re-reading."
