But our theme is that each of our writers found her way. These women used their wits, courage, and resourcefulness to overcome the challenges they faced alone. For none of them was a threatening situation the end of the road.

The stories our writers tell in these little volumes run the gamut from hair-raising to hilarious as they evade men with guns, persistent beggars; as they set their sights on art experiences or starting life over; as the road teaches them what it means to be young or growing old.
