Steve Tait has an opportunity to turn his life around, provided he’s willing, and able, to challenge Wayne Jackson, the man who almost killed him the first time they met. At a considerable financial and resource disadvantage Tait is considered a fool for taking on a man who not only has wealth and power, but the determination to do whatever is necessary to protect his way of life.

In forging ahead he acquires land needed by Jackson for a planned development, and when that happens Tait becomes the recipient of Jackson’s complete and undivided attention. One way or another Tait has to go, but it all goes badly wrong when a simple, but poorly delivered message unleashes a series of unintended consequences.

Tait’s wife is drawn unwillingly into the conflict. Lines are crossed, her life placed in jeopardy, hanging in the balance until the realization dawns that the constraints of civilized society must be set aside to find a solution.

Tait attempts to find that solution by using military tactics and deadly force, while his wife must use her wits, guile and strength of will in order to survive.
