Los Feliz Confidential: A Memoir

Novak’s memoir chronicles her immigration from Belgium to the USA in the ‘50s, growing up under her father’s strict regime. Teenage rebellion kicks in with the introduction of sex and drugs and rock ’n’ roll. Novak takes us on a whirlwind tour as an adventuress, giving the reader a kaleidoscopic, upbeat glimpse of her life abroad and under the Hollywood sign as the experimental ‘60s morph into the decadent ‘70s.

As Novak aspires to be an actress, she moves in with a trust-funded, eccentric owner of a castle-like hillside manor in Los Feliz. The party starts here in a deceptively glamorous enclave where hedonism is the watchword of the day, until she embarks on another relationship with a filmmaker-animator and must make a decision that could change her future.
