In this first volume of this offbeat suspense series (for ages 16+), a young educated Chicago woman, Kelly Donovan, must escape from her luxurious home to get away from her sociopathic boyfriend, Mark Flannery, before he takes her to a woodsy cabin for a little “anniversary get-way.” She must plot, lie, and pretend to be happy before she can flee her relationship and her own home, alive. Unforeseen obstacles frustrate her efforts to get away, and Kelly’s family and friends, strangers to one other, must perfectly work together to help her live a life free from threat. The diverse group includes an insecure drama teacher, a brilliant pharmaceutical engineer, and an international businesswoman with a secret that comes in very handy at one critical point.
This story is uniquely narrated by inanimate household teddy bears, which, notwithstanding their immobility, have interesting thoughts and perspectives on the shocking events and intriguing relationships which form before their plastic eyes. These plush bears also get a healthy dose of an entertaining blooming romance when Kelly’s plight takes everyone overseas to Paris. While in France, more scheming, racing to stay steps ahead of Mark, and even physical violence ensue – violence which does not always involve a damsel in distress. To complicate matters further, some of the characters are not necessarily what, or who, they seem. Once the plot’s feverish pace decelerates, the group starts to feel some hope, but is the race really over? The genre-mixing mind-bending narration style makes this novel a sensational ride. Enjoy!

"I received the ARC for this book from the author for an honest review, as always. I was really curious about the plot and the way this story is written because I have not heard about any book that is similar to this one in description. Plus, it is narrated by teddy bears, so I definitely to read that. It was such an interesting read with a different approach to writing. It is a writing style I haven´t seen until this book, but I did like it…you wont be disappointed.
The story itself was interesting and full of suspense, and if I didn´t have to work my regular job, I would have read this book in one night…it is definitely a page turner! It will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is also a plus…to see all of the emotions of the characters and the way their stories unfold. I loved…that there are a few funny parts that sort of take the edge of all the suspense in the novel, but in a good way.

"Okay first I want to start out by saying that this is a very interesting book and by the end, I loved it. The concept of this book is something I have never seen before. Having multiple people and multiple narrators makes for a very interesting story line. Now this is a suspense novel, and having teddy bears narrate the book adds a bit of mystery that I didn't expect. It also takes some of the edge off. Which I liked. About the Author:
After 44 years on this Earth, the one constant, in terms of Vojta’s strengths, is writing. From college to law school to legal writing to lesson planning, and now fiction writing, it is her favorite and strongest skill. Vojta earned a B.A. in Philosophy, including a minor in Literature. She also holds a Juris Doctorate Degree. She changed her path in life from law toward her love for creative writing.
