Innocent As Sin

When Nat Quinn stumbles across Abigail MacKay while he’s robbing a bank it looks like he might blow the cover she has carefully prepared for a job she’s been working on for months. She agrees to meet him to keep him quiet, but when Jake finds out she’s working with a bounty hunter who never brings in a criminal alive he suspects that Nat might be the next target. The whole case exposes Nat and Jake’s ugly past as victims of discrimination as newly-arrived Irish Immigrants at the hands of the ‘Know Nothings’ and leaves Abigail facing a full-blown case of Jake’s irritable heart—the 19th century name for PTSD, which was caused by their childhood trauma.

On top of all that someone has dumped a frozen corpse after disguising it as a tramp.
