Description

Who could predict how long retribution will hang over young Billy's life when he meets his artistic but devious cousin? An innocent, well-meaning boy who so wanted a playmate grows up with the menace of manipulative Kenneth as well as with Hitler's war. His good nature and resilience, frail Kenneth's artistic talent, the four parents' tensions, are played out in the context of wartime London, evacuation and post-war austerity.

“This well-executed emotional drama” (Historical Novel Society) explores the fateful relationship between Billy and devious Kenneth.
This volume includes all three books of the trilogy taking the reader from 1937 to 1951. Its themes of psychological bullying, sibling rivalry, wartime parenting practices and the adult outcomes of early childhood experiences have resonated with many readers of all ages in 19 different countries.
A Relative Invasion will appeal to those who have enjoyed 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time'; 'The Boy with Striped Pajamas'; 'The Catcher in the Rye' and Michael Frayn's 'Spies'.

Author bio.
Rosalind Minett writes novels and short stories, several of which have been performed in Bath by WordinyourEar, Story Friday, and included in anthologies.
As well as the historical trilogy, A Relative Invasion, set in WW2, she is the author of the satirical short story collection, Me-Time Tales: tea breaks for mature women and curious men. The next collection, Curious Men: he-time tales and the next novel, Unpredicted Relations are both out at the end of 2018.
Her career as a psychologist took Rosalind to many strange homes and situations where she met and worked with interesting people of all ages. She now creates imaginary characters instead. Her understanding of how people think, learn, feel and behave drives her plots whether the genre is humour, historical or crime.
She lives in the South West of England and spends her non-family time enjoying scenic walks, theatre, sculpting and painting.
