Chicago sociologist Starling Everly can’t wait for her vacation in scenic Sleepy Sands. In town for just one week for her friend’s winter wedding, she’s ready to unwind, celebrate, and see what small town living is like. When sparks fly with a groomsman she meets her first night in town, she may even get a no-strings-attached vacation fling. 

Local brewery owner Nigel Underhill never expected to click with a woman who was only visiting. But after showing the gorgeous and bubbly Starling what makes Sleepy Sands unique – from sweeping sand dunes perched on Lake Michigan to the local music club and ethnic restaurants – he can’t stop thinking about her. Intrigued and attracted, they savor seven days and nights of fulfilling conversations and even more fulfilling sex. 

With Starling leaving, they must decide whether there’s a possibility for more. Neither wants to move – Starling helps thousands with her job in Chicago, and Nigel has deep ties to his brewery and community in Sleepy Sands. Yet either Nigel or Starling will have to give up the place they call home to be with the person who makes their heart feel complete. Will one of them have to lose...or can the right choice lead to a double win?

This humorous inter-racial small town contemporary features a subplot with diva banker Cassie Redstone and hotelier homebody Roxanne Thompson becoming wife and wife, and is the first in a series of standalone romances set in Sleepy Sands.
