Description

Gu Non couldn’t stop thinking about the magic. They’d lied to her about it. They’d lied to everyone.

No one lied to Gu Non.

Lord’s Dome is a slipstream fantasy about a girl who refuses to believe that the fate of her family is to suffer, the mining elder who must suddenly decide whether to trust this lone girl, and their search for the truth of an enigmatic god while the unyielding everstorm rages overhead.

A Note From the Publisher

Lord’s Dome was self-published by the owner of the small press in 2020, with no budget, to deliver an easy-to-read story to readers during a difficult time. (Yet it has not been seen, and the author really wants someone to see it!) Unlike traditional fantasy worldbuilding, the story is told somewhat narrowly through character POV in a relatively small world, with a feel of much more on the periphery. The prose is intentionally written in a colloquial style, blending fantasy worldbuilding language with modern terms, while not editing out the author’s Great Lakes dialect. It is best for reviewers who would appreciate those aspects. Despite the work being done in-house without a budget, it was done with the help of an enthusiastic group of talented supporters, and we are very proud of our little pulp fantasy title, which we hope has themes readers will find engaging and relevant.

As with all our titles, content notes are available at atthisarts.com/content.

Marketing Plan

This book is primarily a fantasy that also crosses into or has the sense of multiple genres (we stopped counting at 12), so we hope that it will appeal to a wide range of readers.

We are calling the book a Slipstream Fantasy, defined as: “Fantasy with strong secondary world elements that crosses conventional genres in a surreal manner, blurring into senses of realism.” We view this as a mirror, in a sense, to Slipstream / Magical Realism. One reviewer called the book “fantasy pulp” and we loved that too.

We are grateful for spoiler-free reviews, especially as this title centers around an unfolding mystery.
