Description

A long-lost treasure map, a sizzling attraction, and a feud dating back to the gold rush…

Reeling from a series of betrayals, Angela Hayes flees Colorado for a fresh start in New Zealand, as far away as she can get from her ex-boyfriend and her controlling mother—a world-famous mountain climber. She dreams of starting her own boutique tourism company based around food, wine, and adventure: an impossible dream when she’s broke.

Nature-lover and former hiking guide Noah O’Connor has returned home to Pounamu Point, a mining town on the West Coast of New Zealand. His mum is too sick with breast cancer to live on her own, let alone run Birdsong, the O’Connor family’s gold-rush-era homestead B&B. But business is anything but booming and Noah needs a miracle to keep the bank from foreclosing.

Diverted by heavy rain, Angela takes a room at Birdsong. Her hackles rise when she meets the gorgeous Noah. Just another a self-centered “outdoors nut” like her mother and her ex—she’s had enough of those in her life.

“Angel,” with her luscious curves, wild blond curls, and adorable smudge of mud on her cheek, captivates Noah from the first moment he sees her. But, scarred from his father’s disapproval and women who can’t accept him as he is, Noah has sworn off love.

While out hiking, Angela falls into a cave where she discovers a greenstone pendant covered in strange markings—similar to one worn by Noah. The two pendants interlock, creating a treasure map revealing the hiding place of Paddy’s Promise, a giant gold nugget found and then lost by Noah’s great-great-great-grandfather and his mining partner, Seamus Boyle. Angela and Noah are overjoyed—if found, the gold will solve both their problems. Pushing aside their differences, they agree to join forces to locate Paddy’s Promise.

But Pounamu Point local Chris Boyle, Seamus’s descendant, gets wind of their find. The O’Connors and the Boyles have long been sworn enemies, each blaming the other for losing the nugget. Chris is not about to let an O’Connor rob his family again of what is rightfully theirs.

Desperate to find Paddy’s Promise first, Angela and Noah head into the wild West Coast, finding it hard to resist the attraction simmering between them. But Chris Boyle is hot on their heels—and prepared to kill to get the gold.
