Young readers will be excited to learn more about Beowulf and Grendel in Book 4 of the Kid Beowulf series : The Tarpein Rock. The twins find themselves lost in Italy and must fight in warrior battles in order to get out. During this time, they also come face-to-face with another set of twins, Romulus and Remus. The battle separates both sets of brothers and they must find ways to accomplish their plans. Even though the slight jump back and forth in time could be confusing at first, the author does a great job in telling a smooth story from start to finish. The character development is well done and young readers will definitely be able to identify them from text and illustration. Even though this version of the story differs slightly from the classic myth, this book will be entertaining and could be used as an introduction of the classic folklore.
