These days I am a full-time writer, mainly of fantasy and science fiction. I’ve been published by Tor and Macmillan New Writing, as well as independent ventures.



At other times in my life I’ve been deputy finance director of a local authority, consultant, trainer, carer, project manager, editor and deckchair attendant. The only conclusion I’ve drawn from these varied experiences is that the things that paid the least were the most rewarding. Especially the deckchairs.
