What I didn't expect was the amount of humor. Not only are many of the stories themselves funny, but the lists of the types of dancers, the do's and don'ts, etc are hilarious. I also didn't expect as much introspection as this book offers. It's not just a collection of stories and observations, they go beyond that and give the reader an inside view of the mind of a dancer, on stage and off. The casual, chatty writing style allows you to feel like they're sitting there telling you the story. From laugh out loud moments to brutally honest details this book is packed full of insights that only those with personal experience (and the guts to write about it) could offer.
