Description

Taking on one of the Northeast’s 4,000 footers is becoming a pilgrimage for Northeast residents and its visitors. While more people than ever are hiking them, there’s still a dearth of good information about each mountain and its surrounding areas, especially in winter. Climb Every Mountain fills that gap by informing adventurers—from the freshly-booted novice to the grizzled mountaineer—about the Northeast’s iconic mountains that top out at over 4,000 feet.

Dr. Michele Hernández Bayliss has written the best-selling books: A is for Admission, The Middle School Years, Acing the College Application and Don’t Worry You’ll Get In. Michele has been featured in hundreds of newspapers, magazines, radio and television programs including Newsweek, Bloomberg, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, Atlantic Monthly, The Today Show, CNN, and MSNBC. As President and co-founder of Top Tier Admissions, she has helped students navigate the college admissions process for more than two decades.

An avid athlete, hiker and adventurer, Michele has spent the better part of a decade working on several hiking “lists” in the Northeast including the Northeast 111 in both winter and non-winter and the “4K a day” Calendar Year Grid (will complete in April if all goes well). She has also done several guided hiking trips in the Dolomites, the French and Swiss Alps and the Austrian Alps (Stubai and Oeztal). She is married to Bruce Bayliss, has two kids (18 and 24) and five dogs, two of whom often accompany her on hikes. She lives in Weybridge, Vermont.

Dean Ouellette works at Middlebury College as their Energy &Technology Manager. He enjoys hiking and outdoor activities whenever he can and is currently working on the Adirondack “grid” and the “4K a day” patch. He and Heather Shepherd are engaged to be married and will have the ceremony on top of the mountain where they met and will honeymoon on the John Muir trail. He lives in Bristol, Vermont.
