Description

Victor Glass, former vice president of the United States is asked by his publisher to write a biography on his brother-in-law, Mortimer G. Strawberry, President of the United States. At first reluctant but then he realizes that only he can set the record straight about all the misrepresentations and false reports that the media have scattered over the years about himself, the President and the First Lady. In his folksy, humoristic and honest way, Victor narrates and describes the incredible events that unfold in Niagara Falls, U.S.A. as well as the colorful characters that swirl throughout Victor’s life.

Victor’s wife, Pamela Marybone – a convert to Judaism and daughter of a redneck pastor – is a loudmouth tyrant who rules the roost and doesn’t like to be tied up when he wants to have sex. Victor’s sister, Cynthia, grows up to become the First Lady as well as an interior designer extraordinaire and designs all of Morty’s enterprises with her tin foil mockups.

Dr. Rabbi Albert Goosebaum (a charismatic orator with a legion of adoring followers who eventually shuns religion), Paul McCartney (who stages a Beatles concert to celebrate the revitalized Niagara Falls), and Victor’s twin sons who have fallen in love with each other and who have become the biggest draw in the WWE and amazingly set the stage for helping Morty solve the Mid-East crisis and of course, Mortimer G. Strawberry himself, the entrepreneur genius with the Midas touch who becomes President of the United States and transforms the Niagara region: from establishing an interactive porno business using barnyard animals, to acquiring the largest vineyard in the region, to creating the most exquisite synagogue in Niagara Falls that the world has ever seen, to his funeral parlor theme park with restaurants and amusement rides, to his grandest creation: the redevelopment of Niagara Falls with cannabis cafés and legal prostitution.

But in order to install his vision for Niagara Falls, Morty needs to change a few things and the easiest way to make changes is through politics and so he begins by becoming first Mayor of Niagara Falls then governor of New York state and finally President of the United States all the while dragging his best friend Victor along for the ride and eventually making Victor his vice president.

As Victor narrates the biography of his best friend, he becomes very much disenchanted with the world of politics and in due course ends up as the only vice president ever to have been impeached. And as the final chapters of the biography play itself out we find that Mortimer G. Strawberry, President of the United States has made life more decent, more prosperous and has done the unimaginable – created peace on earth with his new world order only to have to face an impeachment trial of his own.

The biography ends with Morty’s assassination by a complete stranger who blames Morty for putting the world off kilter, explaining that: “It was better the way it was.” With Morty’s death, everything starts to unravel and the world (at this point, filled to the brim with love) sadly reverts to its former self – full of animosity, hypocrisy and ambiguity.
