Advance Praise

“This is a dramatically different kind of church leadership book—one that offers an
integrated perspective. Educator Larry McSwain draws from his coaching and consulting
experience as well as from current social science research, yet remains grounded in
solid theology and scripture. While summarizing the best of organizational theories and
leadership models, the author zeroes in on applications most helpful to congregations.
The broad range of topics covered means that pastors and lay leaders will rely on this as a
reference book for years to come.”
■ Cynthia Woolever, author of Leadership That Fits Your Church

“Larry McSwain has compiled a rich sourcebook for leaders, ministers, and
congregational participants.… You will use this book over and over as you seek to lead,
collaborate, and minister in your particular setting. This is not a roadmap, but a tool box
for ministry that enables you to be more intentional, know more deeply, and do more
strategically as you enrich your community of faith.”
■ Bo Prosser, Coordinator for Missional Congregations, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship

“The work of the kingdom of God needs your very best efforts. Whether you are beginning
your ministerial journey, a few years in, at a midpoint reassessment, reaching your full
potential, or thinking about finishing well, use this book to remind yourself of those key
aspects of being centered on God’s leading in your ministry and the practical things you
need to be reminded of on a daily basis.”
