In 1715, the Earl of Nithsdale joins the doomed Jacobite rebellion for Scottish independence. The cause is lost and the Earl is locked in the Tower with other nobles and is sentenced to be beheaded.

On a journey to Ayres Rock - on a quest to find some answers at Will's favourite and most spiritual place in the world - Jane is swept away into 1715 and into the Countess of Nithsdale's body. Convinced that saving Nithsdale in the past will save Will in the present, Jane embarks on a daring and audacious plot to rescue the Earl from the Tower of London.
