The fairy-tale begins with brave young Phillip, who is in love with a beautiful princess. It would all be happily-ever-after, except our hero’s love interest is set to have a dark meeting with destiny, that will result in the demise of Phillip’s family, and at length the entire kingdom.
Phillip’s father makes spindles for the kingdom, but even this harmless craft gets Phillip’s family intertwined with the royals’ lives and their secrets. One night, a bonfire is lit and the town is forced to watch all of Phillip and his father’s works wither away in the flames. This fateful night spirals into the town becoming impoverished and Phillip watches as his town and his own father slowly fade away as the years drag slowly by. In that time, a monstrous forest of thorns grows up to surround the castle, and Phillip finds himself at the edge of the brambles years later, determined to find the lost princess he so loved.
He must brave the thorns and venture forth into the castle to reunite with her in the highest tower, where it has been foretold that she lies asleep, waiting to be reawakened. In the end, he survives the brambles and confronts the evil-doer behind the princess’s death-like slumber. An enchantress bent on revenge, and a castle frozen in time will prove to be a lot for Phillip to take in. Will Phillip rescue the love of his life and save the village from the brink of oblivion?
